APPENDIX 9
2014 CPE -NC SEISMIC (SUB- BOTTOM DATA)

Seismic data are located in sub - folders of the Appendix 9 folder with the following titles:
• "2014 — Outer _Banks—Area A_ Cultural_ Resource _Survey_Seismic_Data_Viewer ";
• "2014 NC Outer_ Banks _ Area B_ Seismic_ Data Viewer "; and
• "2014 NC Outer Banks Area C Seismic Data Viewer ".
The seismic lines are most easily viewed using a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox,
Google Chrome, etc.). To view the files using a web browser click on the
"_Seismic_ Data_Viewer.htm" file, which will open an interactive map window display.
Individual html files can also be viewed; however, html files and jpg files must remain in the
same directory. When viewing files through a web browser, coordinates of the curser are shown
on the bottom of the html screen when the curser is placed on the seismic line.
To view the coordinates on the seismic and sidescan web projects provided by CPE -NC,
ActiveX needs to be enabled on the user's computer. To enable ActiveX, open internet explorer,
click on "Tools" and select "Internet Options ". Under the "Advanced" tab, scroll to "Security"
and select "Allow active content from CDs to run on my computer" and "Allow active content to
run in files on My Computer ". ActiveX should now be enabled. You may need to restart your
browser for these changes to take effect.
As previously mentioned, an interactive map is shown in the seismic viewer. However, in
addition, for your convenience trackline maps are included that can be printed and used to
correlate trackline numbers in the viewer to tracklines on the map.
On each sub - bottom line you will see that the seafloor has been digitized in red and sub - bottom
reflectors have been digitized in yellow. On some lines, multiple yellow reflectors are shown.
Please note that the upper reflector is the reflector used in the design of the borrow area and is
interpreted as the base of compatible material. Vibracore logs have been superimposed onto the
seismographs on those lines along which vibracores were collected. The logs are color coded
based on the table below.
