L. SUMMARY
Facility Description:The Concrete Supply Co-West Plant is located at 3030 West Trade Street on approximately 4.1
acres.The facility produces ready-mix concrete.
File Review/History: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services (CMSWS)previously inspected this facility on 10/19/
2018 and a Notice of Violation was issued for the discharge of process water to the Charlotte MS 4.A follow-up inspection
was conducted on 11/5/2018 and the report was issued as satisfactory.
Inspection Summary:At the time of inspection,the Concrete Supply Co- West Plant was observed to be in compliance
with the City of Charlotte Storm Water Pollution Control Ordinance. Please see the inspection report for comments and
recommendations.
Site Inspection Deficiency Comments
Stormwater system (catch basins, Satisfactory Stormwater flows through the site via sheet flow to series of
inlets, outfalls, etc.) drainage channels and process water holding pits. The
holding pits recirculate the process water back to the site for
production. Stormwater and process water can be discharged
offsite via a hose which is connected to a pump and pH
adjustment filter. No stormwater pollution issues were
observed.

during the inspection.

and at the entrance to the facility. Sweeping was being
conducted at the time of inspection. CMSWS recommends
continuing to implement good housekeeping procedures to
help protect water quality.

Vehicle/equipment area(s)-fueling, Satisfactory Vehicle fueling is conducted at the fuel island.Truck and
maintenance,washing, storage, etc. concrete chute washing is conducted at designated areas
which drain to the facilities process water holding pits. Per
facility staff, no vehicle or equipment maintenance is
conducted at the facility. Vehicles and equipment are stored
uncovered outdoors. No stormwater pollution issues were
observed.
Oil/water separator and/or Satisfactory The facility has a pH adjuster attached to the outfall hose. No
pretreatment stormwater pollution issues were observed.
Waste storage/disposal area(s)- Recommendation Wood pallets and sealed totes awaiting disposal were
open tops,waste containers, scrap observed to be kept outdoors uncovered. One municipal
metal bins, etc. waste container was observed to be kept uncovered outdoors.
CMSWS recommends all outdoor waste be kept covered to
help protect water quality.

Indoor material storage area(s) Satisfactory Four 55-gallon drums containing used oil, used coolant and
antifreeze,form release, and hydraulic oil were observed in
the oil room on spill pallets. No stormwater pollution issues
were observed.
