Dear Mr. Grimes:
As discussed by telephone today, due to extreme dry
weather conditions over the last several months and the demands
on Jordan Lake to meet downstream flow targets, we believe it
would be useful to investigate the possibility of adjusting the
low flow requirements. In line with this objective, the
Division of Environmental Management wishes to conduct a study
of water quality conditions below the Jordan Lake Dam on the
Haw River and the Cape Fear River during the period starting
at 4:00 p.m. on November 18 and ending at 4:00 p.m. on November
26. They have requested that the releases from Jordan Lake
Reservoir be maintained at 300 cfs during this period. It is
important to note that this requested 300 cfs release is only
for the purpose of conducting a controlled water quality study.
My understanding is that this request is satisfactory to you
and that the Corps will provide the 300 cfs flow during this
period.
If you have any further questions regarding this
request, please let me know.
Very truly yours,
John D. Wray, P.E.
