Subject: Start of Study Notification
Replacement of the East Clemmonsville Road bridge (Structure #330060)
over I-285/US 52 in Winston -Salem, Forsyth County, North Carolina.
TIP No. BR-0184

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Division 9 has started the project
development , environmental, and engineering studies for the BR-0184 bridge replacement project
in Forsyth County, North Carolina. The project proposes to replace Structure #330060 on East
Clemmonsville Road with a goal for safer traffic operations. The project is included in the
NCDOT’s Highway Fund Bridge Replacement Program and is scheduled for construction in fiscal
year 2028. Figure 1 shows the vicinity map for t he proposed project.

NCDOT staff or their consultants may be contacting you to request project -specific information.
While we do not expect a response to this notification, we welcome your input if you have time-
sensitive concerns. Your input will be used in the development of environmental documentation
prepared pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act and/or State Environmental Policy
Act. We would appreciate any information that may be helpful in evaluating the potential
environmental effects of the proposed project , as well as recommended alternatives to be
considered. If applicable, please identify any permits or approvals which may be required by your
organization.
