Hello Bethany,
I am a consultant working with the Fiberon 3NL facility (Permit No. NCG130080) and I had a question regarding the
outfall listed in the permit summary as well as the process for updating this if need be. The permit currently identifies one
Clutfall labeled storm drains around plant. Currently, all storm drains and stormwater runoff drain to a drainage ditch on
the east side of the facility, parallel to US Hwy 52. The stormwater in this ditch then drains through a culvert under and
across the highway, which was previously considered Cutfall 1, and the point any sampling would occur, if required.
However, following a facility expansion, another culvert was constructed about 50 feet north of the current Cutfall. All
storm drains and facility runoff are still collected in this drainage ditch, but there is now another point where stormwater
exits the drainage ditch.
Both culverts are exposed to the same industrial activities. What is your recommendation on how we handle this in
regards to sampling and other outfall requirements? Let me know if you have any questions or have time for a quick call
to review this.
Thanks,
RM
