This technical specification is intended to be a guide to language in the Design Manual and therefore complimentary to Article 1 of the General Conditions, and in the case of any conflict between this specification and Article 1 of the General Conditions, this specification shall be subordinate to Article 1 of the General Conditions. 2.0 Interpretation of Certain Terms and Words a) Except as specifically defined herein all words used in these Technical Specifications have their customary dictionary definitions. For the purposes of these Technical Specifications certain words or terms used herein are hereby defined as follows: b) Words used in the present tense include the future tense. Words used in the singular include the plural and words used in the plural include the singular. Words used in the masculine include the feminine also. c) The word "shall" is always mandatory d) The word "may" is permissive e) The word "lot" includes the word "plat" or "parcel" f) The word "person" includes a firm, association, organization, partnership, trust company, limited liability company, or corporation as well as an individual. 3.0 Definitions AASHTO: American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. AHJ: Authority Having Jurisdiction. ASTM: The latest edition of Standards published by the American Society of Testing and Materials. AWWA: American Water Works Association. Cleanout: An access point for a gravity sewer service lateral to be used for inspection and maintenance purposes by County staff or licensed plumbers. Clearing & Grubbing: The removal and disposal of all trees, root mat, roots, logs, shrubs, grass, weeds, fallen timber and any other litter or surface debris such as, but not limited to, fences, steps, walls, chimneys, column footings, other footings, foundation slabs, basements, other foundation components, sign, junked vehicles, and other rubble and debris, which occur within areas designated as Easements, Limits of Disturbance, or clearing limits, as shows on the Contract Drawings. The more expansive limits shown on the drawings shall define the area to be cleared and grubbed unless otherwise note as an undisturbed area. All areas cleared and grubbed shall be left in a condition to meet the requirements of Brunswick County Technical Specification TS 025: Landscaping. The word clearing shall be interchangeable with clearing and grubbing. Contractor: A person or business entity legally licensed by the State of North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors; to perform installation, repairs, and connections to County water and sewer systems. The license holder must also have the Underground Utilities designation in addition to a General Contractor license. County: Brunswick County. Customer: Any person, firm, association, business, or governmental agency that receives water and / or sewer service from Brunswick County Public Utilities. Density: The number of habitable structures per acre, or number of bedrooms per development, used to calculate water and waste water flow rates. Design Work: Work produced by a Professional Engineer for a developer or the County related to the installation of water, sewer, or stormwater infrastructure. Easement: Legal rights conveyed by a Grantor to a Grantee to any person, firm, corporation or public entity for the use of a strip or parcel of land for a specified purpose; fee simple land ownership rights do not with mnt. Engineer: A person registered as a Professional Engineer by the North Carolina Board of Registration for Engineers and Land Surveyors (the Board) in one of the approved fields of licensure by the Board and qualified to design and permit water transmission and distribution, sewer collection, pump stations, water treatment, wastewater treatment, stormwater, streets, curb and guttering, or other required design elements and procedures. FDC: Fire Department Connection; a device on the size of a building, or possibly some distance remote from the building, that is connected to the sprinkler system for the purposes of allowing the Fire Department to boost the sprinkler system pressure via external means — usually by use of a fire department pumper truck. Feet of Head: A unit of pressure measurement; a column of water 2.31 feet tall= 1.0 PSIG. Governing Authority: The Board of Commissioners of Brunswick County, North Carolina. Service Box: A water meter box or a low pressure sewer box on a customer's property. Service Lateral: The connection between a County water and/or sewer main and the service box on the customer's property. Sewer Main: Any pipe or conduit that is part of the County's sewer transmission and/or distribution system and is used to transport sewer flow from more than one user connection to a waste water treatment facility. Shop Submittals: Technical information submitted to the Engineer and / or the County for review and approval of materials to be used in the construction of water and sewer systems. Standard Details: The water, sewer, and pump station detail drawings prepared by the County Engineering and Public Utilities departments and are posted on the County website for use by the design community. Subdivision: The division of a tract of land into two or more lots for the purpose, whether immediate or future, of sale or development. This includes all division of land involving a new street or a change in the arrangement of streets and includes any re- subdivision of land. Subdivision shall also refer to uses of land not ordinarily considered a subdivision such as mobile home parks, multifamily parcels, townhouses, and planned unit developments. Surveyor: A person registered as a Land Surveyor by the North Carolina Board of Registration for Engineers and Land Surveyors and qualified to practice land surveying. Temporary Construction Easement: Temporary Construction Easements that are TS 001 Page 5 I June 2020 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.01 obtained from a private or public landowner for temporary impacts due to utility infrastructure construction; TCEs are not recorded at the County Register of Deeds and the TCE dissolves at the end of the construction project. User Connection: The point of connection of a customer's plumbing to the County's service box. Water Main: Any pipe or conduit that is part of the County's water transmission and/or distribution system and is used to transport water flow to more than one user connection from a water treatment facility. TS 001 Page 6 I September 2012 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.00 Technical Specification 002 EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITY LINES AND STRUCTURES 1.0 General a) Every landowner, developer, or contractor who contracts to perform excavation, demolition, or installation activities within a site or on a project located in Brunswick County is responsible to ascertain the location and type of all underground utility lines or structures that may be located within the limits of the project work area. b) Some of these underground utilities or structures may have been designated on the plans, however, the exact location may vary and others may not be designated. The contractor is fully responsible for verification of the exact location of all underground utility lines or structures within the work limits, whether shown on the plans or not, and for providing necessary protection and/or repair if damaged. c) For a Brunswick County Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project Article 21 of the Brunswick County General Conditions of the Contract is also a part of this specification and is fully incorporated herein. Where a conflict may exist between this technical specification and Article 21 of the General Conditions,this specification shall be subordinate to Article 21 of the General Condition of the Contract. 2.0 Underground Damage Prevention Act a) The contractor is directed to comply fully with the applicable provisions of Senate Bill 168 "Underground Damage Prevention Act" as passed by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina. b) Listing of Utility Companies: The following utility companies may have facilities within the work limits and it is required that the contractor establish coordination and utilities location with each prior to initiating work. Location assistance requested from the owner should include the actual horizontal location, type number, size and depth of all lines. Some, but not all, cooperative actions the contractor should take either on or off the job site are as follows: b) The contractor shall ascertain if the utility owner desires to have his representative present during the work. c) The contractor shall comply with all standard regulations and take all precautions required by the owner of the facility. d) All costs associated with locating and marking existing utilities or the utilities representatives shall be the responsibility of the contractor. TS 002 Page 2 4 September 2012 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.00 e) The contractor shall inform all equipment operators, either those employed by him or those employed by his subcontractors, of information obtained from the utility owners prior to initiation of work. f) The contractor shall immediately notify utility owner of any leaks or breaks, dents, gouges, grooves or other damages to such line coating or cathodic protection created or discovered by him in the course of the work. g) The contractor must immediately alert the occupants of the adjacent premises of any emergencies that he may create or discover at the work site. 4.0 Location and Protection of Utility Lines a) The location of all utilities shall be made with locating equipment well in advance of actual work. The located facility shall be plainly marked by coded paint designations on the paved areas or by coded stakes or flags along the unpaved areas. All marked locations are to be made at least 500 feet in advance of all trench excavation and the location and utility protection provided by the contractor must be to the satisfaction of the engineer and the County. Furthermore, the contractor shall uncover any utility and obtain the utility elevation as required by the engineer. All damages to existing utility facilities in the work area during trenching and installation of facilities for this contract are the responsibility of the contractor and he shall repair or replace damaged lines to the satisfaction of the utility owner. 5.0 Protection of Existing Utilities and Facilities a) In the conduct of his operations, the contractor shall take special precautions to protect equipment, structures,utility lines, roadways, subsurfaces, submerged, and overhead facilities against damage. In the event the facilities are disturbed, damaged, or injured as a result of the contractor's operation then the contractor shall immediately notify the utility owner and the County, and in conjunction with the owner determine the proper method of replacing, repairing, or restoring the affected facilities to the conditions which existed prior to the contractor's operations. b) The contractor shall, at his own expense, replace, repair or restore the affected facilities or areas to their original condition or shall reimburse the owner of said facilities for such expenses as the said owner may accrue in performing the work. 6.0 Connections to Existing Facilities a) Connections to existing facilities which are in service shall be thoroughly planned in advance, and all required equipment, materials and labor required for a successful connection shall be on hand at the time of undertaking the connections. Work shall proceed continuously (around the clock) if necessary to complete connections in the minimum time. Operation of valves or other appurtenances on existing utilities, when required, shall be by or under the direct supervision of the owning utility. TS 002 Page 3 I September 2012 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.00 b) Brunswick County Engineering and Utilities Departments do not allow tapping operations to existing mains on Fridays or on the day before a scheduled County holiday. c) A County Engineering and /or Public Utilities department inspector must be present during all wet tap operations on existing mains, and the contractor shall retrieve the coupon removed from the main and deliver same to County staff for verification of successful coupon removal. d) The contractor shall comply with all NCDOT requirements for work within public rights- of-way during normal working hours and also in advance of weekends and holidays. TS 002 Page 4 I July 2015 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.01 Technical Specification 013 EXCAVATING, GRADING, TRENCHING, & BACKFILLING 1.0 General a) The utility contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, and materials for all excavation, grading, trenching, and backfilling associated with the installation of water,sewer,pump stations,drainage structures,curb and gutter,streets,sidewalks, driveways, slopes, storm drainage, and other associated infrastructure within the limits of the project work area. All work done shall be in accordance with the approved plans and specifications. 2.0 Existing Conditions and Utility Locations a) It is the utility contractor's responsibility to perform all site inspections to familiarize himself with the scope of work involved and the existing conditions at the project site. b) The contractor is responsible for locating all existing underground utilities in the area of work. If utilities are to remain in place then the contractor shall provide adequate means of protection during earthwork, excavating, trenching, and backfilling operations. c) Should unlocated, or incorrectly located, piping or other utilities be encountered during excavation the utility owner shall be notified immediately. The utility contractor shall cooperate with the County and other respective utility companies to protect and keep respective services and facilities in operation. The contractor shall also repair any damaged utilities to the satisfaction of the utility owner. d) Barricade all open excavations occurring as part of this work and post with warning signs and /or lights. Continuously operate all warning lights as recommended by the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ). The utility contractor shall also protect structures, utilities, sidewalks, pavements, and other facilities from damage caused by settlement, lateral movement, undermining, washout, and other hazards created by earthwork operations. 3.0 Technical Standards a) ASTM C33 ---- Standard specification for concrete aggregates b) ASTM D2487 - Classification of soils for engineering purposes. 4.0 Soil Classifications a) Use soils free of debris, roots, wood, scrap material, vegetation, refuse, soft unsound particles,organic matter,refuse,frozen materials,rocks and lumps greater than 4 inches in diameter and other deleterious matter. TS 013 Page 1 16 July 2015 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.01 b) For the purpose of this specification, soils to be used as fill material are grouped into five classes according to soil properties and characteristics: Class I: Angular, 1/4 to 1-1/2 inch, graded stone, including a number of fill materials that have regional significance such as coral,slag,cinders,and crushed stone, crushed gravel, and crushed shells Class II: Coarse sands and gravels with maximum practical size of 1-1/2 inch, including variously graded sands and gravels containing small percentages of fines,generally granular and non-cohesive, either wet or dry. Soil Types GW, GP, SW, and SP are included in this class. Class III: Fine sand and clayey gravels, including fine sands, sand-clay mixtures, and gravel-clay mixtures. Soil Types GM, GC, SM, and SC are included in this class. Class IV: Silt, silty clays, and clays, including inorganic clays and silts of medium to high plasticity and liquid limits. Soil Types MH,ML, CH, and CL are included in this class. These materials are not recommended for bedding, haunching,or initial backfill. Class V: This class includes the organic soil, OL, OH, PT as well as soils containing frozen earth, debris, rocks, larger than 40 mm (1-1/2 in.) in diameter, and other foreign materials. These materials are not recommended for bedding, haunching,or initial backfill. 5.0 Trench Excavation,Pipe Bedding,Backfilling,and Compaction for Utility Systems a) Trenching of utilities as a method of installation is not allowed in Brunswick County b) Trench Excavation 1) Excavation shall be accomplished in accordance with the grades and lines as established by the Engineer or Surveyor and as required by the work to be performed. Excavation shall include the removal and replacement of all asphalt,concrete,curb,rock,earth,fences,trees(as applicable),shrubs,and other materials. The contractor will exercise care to prevent undercutting lower than the required subgrade. All materials from excavation, considered as suitable by this specification, shall be used as fill wherever required, and the contractor shall arrange his work so that this usage of excavated materials will be possible. Unsuitable and surplus materials from the excavation, if any, shall be disposed of by the contractor at his expense. All areas of the site shall be graded and maintained at all times to prevent surface runoff from draining into the excavations and to prevent ponding of water therein. 2) Excavated materials not required for topsoil, fill or backfill shall be removed from the site of the work by the contractor, but none shall be TS 013 Page 2 I July 2015 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.01 deposited on private property without written consent of the property owner. For County capital improvement projects any agreements between the contractor and private property owners must be provided to the County also. 3) All excavations shall be in compliance with all current OSHA requirements and it is the utility contractor's responsibility to ensure that the project work is in compliance with all OSHA requirements. 4) All piping shall be installed at a minimum depth of 36 inches unless otherwise approved by Brunswick County. Installations shallower than 36 inches, if approved,will require the use of ductile iron pipe. 5) Trenches for piping shall be excavated true to line and grade as shown on the approved plans. 6) Trench widths at and below the top of the pipe shall be the minimum necessary for proper installation. Trench banks above the top of the pipe shall be as vertical as practicable. Overdepth excavation shall be backfilled with Class I material and compacted. 7) The utility contractor shall provide, at his expense and as directed by the Engineer, especially bedding material or concrete encasement as may be necessary due to over-width excavation. 8) Trench depth to the lines and grades shown on the drawings. Where elevations are not shown, trench to a depth sufficient to provide at least 36 inches of cover above the top of pipe,unless otherwise specified. Grade all trenches to provide a constant slope free of sags and high spots. Recesses shall be excavated where required to accommodate bells and joints. 9) Keep trenches free of water. Include cost of dewatering in unit price bid for pipe. No separate payment for dewatering will be made by the County. 10) Properly brace sheet and support trench walls as soil conditions require and in strict conformance with the approved plans,all pertinent laws,and OSHA regulations. Provide adequate bracing and shoring to protect adjacent improvements. Contractor shall provide certification for all premanufactured trench bracing devices prior to any excavation activities. c) Pipe Bedding 1) Gravity Sewer Mains — Refer to Brunswick County gravity sewer pipe bedding Standard Detail: For ravi mains less than twenty 20 feet deepundercut Class A bedding: gravity y( ) trench bottom six (6) inches minimum below pipe and fill with size #57 stone up to and including the springline of the pipe. TS 013 Page 3 6 July 2015 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.01 Class B bedding: For gravity mains greater than twenty (20) feet deep undercut trench bottom six (6) inches minimum below pipe and fill with size#57 stone to six(6) inches above the pipe. 2) Pressure Mains, Water or Sewer- it is not necessary to bed pressure mains unless unusually wet or mucky field conditions are encountered. Pressure mains shall be installed in properly excavated trenches on the native soil of the trench. If wet or mucky field conditions are encountered then size #57 stone shall be used to provide a firm bedding but only at the direction of the Engineer or County staff. 3) Service Pipe—bedding is not required on water and sewer service laterals unless unusual conditions are encountered in the field. In these cases the Contractor shall bed the service pipe per direction from the Engineer or County staff. d) Initial and Final backfilling 1) After properly installing the pipe and bedding, if required, trench backfill shall progress as rapidly as pipe laying will permit. 2) Backfill materials shall be of suitable material and be capable of being compacted to a minimum of ninety-eight (98) percent ASTM D698 (Standard Proctor)maximum density at optimum moisture content. 3) Initial and Final backfill shall be of the Type 1 or Type II material as follows: a) Type 1 Material: Excavated material from the trench or materials from other sources which are free from large clods, roots or stones larger than 1 inch may be used as initial backfill in trenches (see Pipe Trench Detail). b) Type 2 Material: Excavated material from the trench or materials from other sources which are free from large clods, roots or stones larger than 8 inches may be used as final backfill in trenches but shall not be used in the final twelve (12) inches of fill (see Pipe Trench Detail). 4) Backfill around the pipe by placing in layers no more than six(6) inches in depth. Backfill shall be compacted with light tamps for the full width of the trench to provide adequate support for the bottom and sides of the pipe. Backfill shall be carried up evenly on both sides of the trench excavation. Particular care is required in backfilling gravity sewer pipe to prevent excessive pipe deflection. e) Compaction 1) When existing plans and grades require the use of fill to reach the required elevation, the contractor shall deposit suitable material from previously TS 013 Page 4 1 6 July 2015 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.01 excavated areas or use borrow material. Such material shall be free from debris, roots,trash, stones, or other harmful substances,and shall be spread in successive layers of loose material not more than six(6) inches in depth. 2) Each layer shall be spread uniformly by motor grader or other approved device and rolled with an approved tamping or three-wheeled power roller until thoroughly compacted to a minimum of ninety-eight (98) percent ASTM D698 (Standard Proctor) maximum density at optimum moisture content. Rolling with rubber tired vehicles or track type equipment will not be allowed. 6.0 Crushed Stone a) Crushed stone shall be size# 57 washed stone only 7.0 Concrete a) Concrete placed for cradles, thrust blocks, or encasement shall be 3,000 psi minimum strength at twenty-eight(28) days hydration. 8.0 Foundation a) Foundation shall be required in wet, yielding and mucky locations. Foundation shall be constructed by removal of wet, yielding or mucky material and its replacement with sufficient Class I material to correct the instability. Foundation shall only be installed with the approval of the Engineer or Brunswick County staff. Undercutting and filling with stone will not be allowed or paid for in order to control water in the excavation trench. 9.0 Undercutting a) Undercutting, unless authorized by the Engineer, shall be replaced and compacted at the contractor's expense. If the material, after excavation to subgrade, is found to be soft, spongy or unfit for use as subgrade, such unsuitable material shall be removed to a depth as directed by the Engineer and the subgrade shall be brought to proper elevation by filling with suitable material from the excavation or from an approved borrow site. 10.0 Borrow Material a) The Contractor will supply all borrow material necessary and will provide all labor and equipment necessary to dig and haul such borrow material. Any and all borrow material utilized shall be of suitable quality and meet the requirements of this technical specification. 11.0 Excess Water Control a) Grade and maintain all areas of the site to preclude surface runoff into excavations and prevent any water accumulation in the excavation. TS 013 Page 5 I July 2015 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.01 b) Excavations should be kept free of surface water and/or groundwater. Provide and maintain at all times the necessary means and devices to prevent water from entering the excavations and for removing all water entering the excavations during pipe laying operations. Dewatering shall continue until structure is backfilled and compacted. c) Include cost of dewatering in the unit cost for pipe. Separate payment will not be made for dewatering operations by Brunswick County. 12.0 Contaminated Soils—Excavation,Removal,and Remediation a) In the event that contaminated soils are suspected or encountered the contractor shall stop digging in the suspect area and immediately notify both the Engineer and Brunswick County staff. b) It shall be the utility contractor's responsibility to hire a soils testing firm to examine the suspect area for type and density of contamination. Should testing confirm the presence of contaminated soils,the following steps shall be taken: 1) Excavate contaminated material in a manner consistent with all jurisdictional regulations. 2) Immediately remove contaminated material from the site. Contaminated materials may not be stockpiled for any amount of time. 3) Material is to be disposed of at a permitted facility. Tickets must be produced to the Engineer and County staff accounting for every cubic yard of material removed. 4) Per direction of the Engineer and/or Brunswick County,the pipe material shall be changed to pressure class 350 DIP with Nitrile gaskets. 5) The trench is to be bedded and backfilled with select fill per Brunswick County specifications herein. 13.0 Field Quality Control a) Field inspection, sampling and testing will be performed as required at either the direction of the Engineer or Brunswick County b) If required, an independent soils engineering and testing laboratory shall perform sufficient tests and inspection procedures, to the satisfaction of the Engineer and the County, both in the field and lab to ensure that the provisions of this aremet. sh all The testing sha 1 be paid by the utility contractor. The testing lab shall be approved by the Engineer and/or Brunswick County. TS 013 Page 6 6 March 2017 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.02 Technical Specification 015 DIRECTIONAL DRILLING 1.0 General a) The intent of this specification is to provide general technical guidance to the utility contractor for the installation of pipelines using horizontal directional drilling(HDD)techniques. b) The utility contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, and incidentals required to successfully perform the installation of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water mains at locations shown on the plans by using horizontal directional drilling (HDD)methods. c) The pipeline shall be complete with all accessories and shall have passed all required testing per the contract documents and other county requirements. d) The utility contractor shall have made all inspections of the area(s) within the vicinity of the project and the immediate area of the work and become thoroughly familiar with the natural and manmade features encompassed about the project. 2.0 Quality Assurance a) Requirements 1) At the discretion of Brunswick County, it may be required that the utility contractor be prequalified and approved through a prequalification process. The utility contractor must furnish references able to attest to his capabilities in accordance with the prequalification process. 2) The utility contractor shall comply with North Carolina OSHA Standards, Underwriter Laboratories standards, and other requirements of the Authority Having Jurisdiction(AHJ). b) Reference Standards 1) Comply with applicable provisions and recommendations of the following, except as otherwise shown or specified: a) ASTM D-1248 and D-3350 b) AWWA C901 or C906 c) NSF 61 d) ASTM D2683 or D3261 TS 015 Page 1 17 March 2017 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.02 3.0 Required Submittals The utility contractor shall submit the following items to the Engineer for review and approval: a) Pipe material shop drawings b) Manufacturer's Installation Manual c) Certificates: Submit certificates of compliance with referenced standards where requested by the engineer d) Field installation drawings indicating layout and depth of directionally drilled pipe. e) Record Drawings: During progress of the work, keep an up to date set of drawings showing field and shop drawing modifications including the drilling logs. The drawings shall show all piping on plans and in sections, with all reference dimensions and elevations required for complete record drawings of the directionally drilled pipe including the drilling logs to be included on the record drawings. f) Erosion control plan for the drilling mud pit work area g) Frack out containment plan for the drilling area h) Written verification of required pressure testing per county specifications i) Work Plan: Prior to beginning work, the Contractor shall submit to the Engineer a work plan detailing the procedure and schedule to be used to execute the project. The work plan should include a description of all equipment to be used, down-hole tools, a list of personnel and their qualifications and experience (including back-up personnel in the event that an individual is unavailable), list of subcontractors, a schedule of work activity, a safety plan (including MSDS of any potentially hazardous substances to be used), traffic control plan (if applicable), an environmental protection plan and contingency plans for possible problems. Work plan should be comprehensive, realistic, and based on actual working conditions for this particular project. Plan should document the thoughtful planning required to successfully complete the project. j) Equipment: the utility contractor shall submit specifications on directional drilling equipment to be used to ensure that the equipment will be adequate to complete the project. Equipment shall include but not be limited to: drilling rig, mud system, mud motors (if applicable), down-hole tools, guidance system, and rig safety systems. Calibration records for guidance equipment shall be included. Specifications for any drilling fluid additives that the utility contractor intends to use or might use will be submitted. Specifications on material to be used shall be submitted to engineer. Material shall include the pipe, fittings, and any other item which is to be an installed component of the project. TS 015 Page 2 17 March 2017 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.02 k) Guidance System: A Magnetic Guidance System (MGS) probe or proven gyroscopic probe and interface shall be used to provide a continuous and accurate determination of the location of the drill head during the drilling operation. The guidance shall be capable of tracking at all depths up to fifty (50) feet and in any soil condition, including hard rock. It shall enable the driller to guide the drill head by providing immediate information on the tool face, azimuth (horizontal direction) and inclination (vertical direction). The guidance system shall be accurate up to +/- 2% of the vertical depth and accurate to within two and one- half(2 Y2)feet horizontally from the horizontal alignment shown on the drawings. 4.0 Materials a) HDPE: Material shall be high-density polyethylene, extra high molecular-weight, PE3408 pressure rated 200 psi, minimum DR- 9, as manufactured by Plexco or equal. b) Fusible PVC: Material shall be fusible C-900 or C-905 polyvinyl chloride (PVC), minimum DR-18, rated 150 psi (C900) or 235 psi (C905), as manufactured by Underground Solutions, Inc., or approved equal. c) Pipe shall be heat fusion welded per the manufacturer's instructions. d) Mechanical fittings shall be authorized by the manufacturer for use on HDPE and Fusible PVC and approved by the engineer. 5.0 Testing and Payment a) Pipe shall be pressure tested after installation per Brunswick County Technical Specifications and Standard Details for either water distribution or sewer force main piping systems. If a pipe relaxation period is required, the minimum relaxation period shall be forty-eight (48) hours or the manufacturer's recommended relaxation period. After the pipe relaxation period the pipe may have its initial pressure test. If the initial pressure test is successful, the pipe shall also be connected to the water or sewer system to be tested again as part of the overall system pressure test. All connections shall be per county standard detail. b) County staff, in addition to the engineer, shall be available during the testing for observation and documentation of the pressure test. c) All unsuccessful pressure testing will be cause for correction by the utility contractor at no additional cost to Brunswick County. d) All trenchless installations shall pass the initial hydrostatic pressure test per specifications and standard details prior to any payment to any contractor. 6.0 Storage and Handling a) Handle all pipe and accessories carefully with approved handling devices. Materials cracked, gouged, chipped, dented or otherwise damaged will not be approved or accepted for use on county systems. b) Pipe and appurtenances shall be unloaded opposite to or as close to the place where they are to be laid as is practical to avoid unnecessary handling. Interiors shall be kept completely free from dirt and foreign matter. c) The utility contractor shall be responsible for the proper support of the piping to ensure that the pipe is not over stressed or damaged in any manner. 7.0 Installation a) General 1) The work shall be performed by the Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Technique. Specific details of installation techniques are the responsibility of the utility contractor and must fully comply with the pipe manufacturer's installation recommendations. The county will not direct "means and methods"to the contractor to be used in installation of the directional drill pipe other than that pipe must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer specifications. In general,the work will proceed as follows: a) Drill a pilot hole from one side of the crossing to the other. The pilot hole follows the design centerline of the pipe with the path recorded and controlled using a specially designed instrument package situated behind the drill bit. b) A washover pipe is rotated over the pilot drill string behind the pilot drill bit and exits with the drill bit on the other side of the crossing. c) The drill bit and drill string is withdrawn back through the washover pipe, leaving the washover pipe in place. d) A series of tools are connected between the end of the washover pipe and the wastewater main and/or water main. The drilled hole is widened to its final diameter with the appropriate tool, head or cutter. Smooth the wall of the bore and direct bentonite to aid in the boring operation. A swivel is installed between the tool, head or cutter and the wastewater main and/or water main to ensure that no torque is transmitted to the pipe main. e) After the tools are connected between the washover pipe and wastewater force main and/or water main, the drill rig will rotate and pull the washover pipe along the drilled path, with the pipe following slowly behind. TSO15 Page4I7 March 2017 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.02 After the pipe is inplace, and after the pipe relaxation period, if � pp pp required, it shall be pressure tested per county specifications with a county representative present. g) A twelve (12) gauge, steel reinforced, insulated copper locator wire shall run continuously with and shall be securely fastened to the water main or forcemain. Refer to county technical specifications for water mains and force mains, and county standard details for more information on the required locator wire. b) Drill Path Geometry 1) The utility contractor is responsible for horizontal and vertical alignment of the pilot drill and final installed pipe. The pilot drill should conform to the pipeline alignment as shown on the contract drawings. The utility contractor shall submit all proposed changes to the vertical alignment shown on the drawings to the Engineer for approval prior to commencing work. Under no circumstances shall installed pipe be at a higher elevation than that shown on the drawings or vary by more than (2 1/2) feet from the horizontal alignment shown on the drawings. 2) The accuracy of the drill exit point shall be within a (2 1/2) foot horizontal radius of the design exit point. 3) Entry and exit points shall be located as shown on the contract drawings. 4) The utility contractor shall map to scale the location of each pilot drill string joint to a minimum horizontal and vertical scale of 1 inch equals 20 feet. The map shall be furnished to the Engineer. 5) Should the utility contractor exceed the limits described above, a new pilot drill shall be performed at the expense of the utility contractor and at no cost to the county. The utility contractor may elect to alter the horizontal geometry of the drilling subject to right-of-way restraints. However, payment limits are based upon stations given in the bid form, and payment for directional drilling will be limited to the prices bid therein. 6) If requested by the Engineer and / or County, the utility contractor shall provide a full explanation of details regarding any technical means, methods or equipment necessary to accomplish the work described herein. c) Job Conditions 1) Existing Utilities: The contractor shall be responsible to field locate existing underground utilities in the areas of work. a) Should uncharted or incorrectly charted piping or utilities be encountered during the work, consult piping or utility owner and engineer immediately for instructions. Cooperate with owner and TS 015 Page 5 I March 2017 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.02 utility companies in keeping respective services and facilities in operation. Repair damaged utilities to satisfaction of utility owner. b) Do not interrupt existing utilities serving facilities occupied and used by owner or others, except when permitted in writing by the engineer and then only after acceptable temporary utility services have been provided. c) Coordinate with utility companies for shut-off of services, if required. 2) Do not bring explosives onto site or use in the work. Use of explosive materials is specifically prohibited. 3) The utility contractor shall conduct all of his operations and maintain the area of his activities, including sweeping and sprinkling of roadways, so as to minimize the creation and dispersion of dust. d) Installation Specialist 1) The utility contractor shall provide the full-time services of a competent installation specialist during the directional drilling to assist in technical matters relating to the work. He shall advise the utility contractor on matters to include, but are not limited to, drilling, pipe support, mapping of the pipe location, quality assurance of the work, safety or other items as necessary. Installation specialist may be the contractor's superintendent. e) Completion of Work 1) Interior of all pipe and fittings shall be inspected and all dirt, gravel, sand, debris, or other foreign material shall be completely removed from pipe interior. A bulkhead shall be attached to the end of the pipe prior to attaching the swivel and barrel reamer to ensure inside of pipe remains clear during pullback operation. 2) Install all pipes accurately to line and grade shown unless otherwise approved by the Engineer. 3) Any time that pipe work is not actively in progress the open ends of pipe shall be closed by a watertight cap. 4) Field cutting pipe, where required, shall be made with a machine specially designed for cutting piping. Cuts shall be carefully done, without damage to pipe, so as to leave a smooth end at right angles to the axis of pipe. Cut ends shall be tapered and sharp edges filed off smooth. 5) At completion of pipe installation, the utility contractor shall install transition fittings as required to the piping and then cap with watertight caps or plugs. TS 015 Page 6 7 March 2017 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.02 6) At completion of pipe installation, the utility contractor shall furnish accurate drill logs indicating placement of pipe as installed. The entire drill path shall be accurately surveyed with entry and exit stakes placed in the appropriate locations within areas indicated on drawings. If the utility contractor is using a magnetic guidance system, the drill path will be surveyed for any surface geomagnetic variations or anomalies. 8.0 Environmental Controls a) Disposal of drilling mud: 1) The drilling mud cannot be disposed of on the project site. 2) Off-site disposal of the drilling mud is the utility contractor's responsibility. 3) The utility contractor shall comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding the transport and off-site disposal of the drilling mud and all excess excavated materials. 4) All costs for proper transport and disposal of drilling mud and all excess excavated materials shall be included in the price bid for the work. b) All operations involving drilling mud shall be controlled and monitored by the utility contractor to ensure containment: 1) The utility contractor shall establish bermed or sandbagged pits of sufficient sizes to accommodate the volume of drilling mud anticipated plus a two-foot freeboard. The bermed areas shall be maintained and designed by the utility contractor to ensure containment and prevent loss of drilling mud. 2) Transportation of the disposal materials off-site by public roads shall meet all North Carolina Department of Transportation requirements. 3) Transportation of materials by barge or scow shall be in accordance with the Corps of Engineers and U.S. Coast Guard requirements. 9.0 Asbuilt/Record Drawings a) The utility contractor shall deliver the drilling logs to the engineer for inclusion in the final as-built drawings for the project. The design profile for the directional drill installation shall be updated with the drilling log data. The drilling logs shall be incorporated in the final as-built drawings provided by the engineer. TS 015 Page 7 7 April 2020 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.10 Technical Specification 021 LOW PRESSURE SEWER SYSTEMS AND GRINDER PUMPS 1.0 General a) Gravity sewer systems are the preferred alternative for service to Brunswick County residential and commercial customers. Some situations require the use of alternative sewer systems such as vacuum systems or low-pressure sewer systems utilizing grinder pumps. b) It is the intent of this specification to provide technical guidance and information concerning the design and installation of low-pressure sewer systems and grinder pumps that are permitted and installed in Brunswick County's Public Utilities' service area. c) The design engineer shall be familiar with all NCDEQ / DWQ rules and minimum design criteria for low pressure sewer systems and grinder pumps. d) Refer to the design section -- Part E -- of this Design Manual for detailed design guidance for low pressure sewer systems utilizing grinder pumps. 2.0 Low Pressure Sewer System Main and Service Lateral Materials a) Low pressure sewer system mains shall be: 1) PVC pipe manufactured in accordance with ASTM D1785,ASTM D2241, ASTM D2672, or AWWA C900 as follows: • Pipes (2)—(4) inches diameter: minimum SDR-21 • Pipes larger than(4) inch diameter: minimum DR-18 • Pipes less than (2) inch diameter: SDR-21 and/or Schedule 40 PVC • All low-pressure sewer main piping installed in NCDOT rights-of-way shall be minimum DR-18 2) DIP manufactured in accordance with AWWA C150 and 151 with pressure Class 350 (only with express written approval from county Public Utilities or Engineering Department) 3) HDPE pipe manufactured in accordance with ASTM D2239, D3035, or AWWA C901. 4) Fusible PVC pipe manufactured in accordance with AWWA C900 with ASTM cell classification 12454. 5) ABS pressure pipe is prohibited for low pressure sewer systems in Brunswick County. TS 021 Page 1 I April 2020 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.10 b) All low-pressure sewer pipes shall be marked with diameter, manufacturer's name or trademark, pressure pipe type, grade and class, and shall be clearly visible for inspection purposes. c) All piping shall be installed in accordance with force main piping requirements per Brunswick County Technical Specification TS 022: Waste Water Force Mains and all NCDEQ/DWQ guidance document requirements. d) The sewer mains shall be located,to the maximum extent possible, in areas where damage is less likely and disruption to the neighborhood is minimized. e) Low pressure sewer system mains installation and testing: 1) Install low pressure sewer pipe with a minimum cover depth of thirty-six (36)inches,unless approved in writing by Brunswick County. Limit trench widths to disturb as little undisturbed soil as possible. Trench backfill beneath pavement should be compacted in nine-inch lifts. 2) Provide thrust restraint as required at all bends greater than (22.5) degrees and all tees, wyes, stops, valves or changes in pipe size, or per written approval of plans. Concrete thrust blocking and restrained joints are acceptable forms of thrust restraint per county standard details. 3) Prior to commencement of pressure and leakage tests, all piping shall be pigged or flushed at minimum of(2.5) feet per second velocity to result in at least a 100%turnover of the water in the pipeline. 4) All piping shall be tested to (150) percent of the maximum operating pressure — (100) psig minimum - for a period not less than (2) hours and shall be witnessed by the design engineer and county staff. 5) For water main crossings refer to Brunswick County's Water and Sewer Crossings Standard Details and comply with all DEQ / PWSS / DWQ / NCAC rules on water and sewer main crossings. f) Low pressure sewer service laterals shall be: 1) (1.5)inch for residential,or(2.0)inch for commercial,AWWA C901,SDR- 9,polyethylene (PE) CTS, with a minimum pressure rating of(200)psi. 2) Service taps and laterals shall consist of the tapping saddle and valve, service line tubing, and the service box. No joints are permitted in the service lateral from the main to the service box. The service box shall be located in non-traffic areas. Driveways shall not be formed around service boxes and the nearest distance from the service box to the driveway shall be no less than eighteen (18) inches. Service boxes shall contain an isolation plug valve and check valve with the isolation valve installed between the main and the check valve to allow for check valve replacement. The lid of the service box shall be marked SEWER and the lid painted green. TS 021 Page 2 9 April 2020 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.10 3) Refer to county low pressure system standard details for more information. g) Push on joints shall be: 1) A single elastomeric gasket type with a pressure rating not less than the pipe pressure rating and meeting the performance requirements of ASTM D3139. h) Restrained joints (RJ) shall be: 1) Required where indicated on the approved drawings. 2) DIP: the restrained joint system shall have a pressure rating equal to or greater than that of the pipe on which it is used;push—on type joints shall be a standard manufacturer's RJ system such as Snap-Lock (Griffin Pipe), T R Flex (U.S. Pipe), Clow Super Lock, or written approved equal; mechanical type joints shall be Meg-A-Lug (EBAA Iron), Cam-Lock, Sigma Corporation, or written approved equal. 3) PVC: the restrained joint system shall have a pressure rating equal to or greater than that of the pipe on which it is used; push—on type joints shall be a standard manufacturer's RJ system such as Snap-Lock (Griffin Pipe), T R Flex (U.S. Pipe), Clow Super Lock, or written approved equal; mechanical type joints shall be Meg-A-Lug (EBAA Iron), Cam-Lock, Sigma Corporation, or written approved equal. 4) All retainer gland type RJ shall be Meg-A-Lug (EBAA Iron), Cam-Lock, Sigma Corporation, or written approved equal. 5) PVC and/or DIP to IPS pipe: deep bell, ductile iron,with knuckle restraint, as manufactured by Sigma, HARCO, or written approved equal. i) Vent pipe (if required for floodplain applications) shall be: 1) (2)inch, Schedule 80 PVC,vented through the side wall of the grinder tank, and shall replace the standard top mounted mushroom vent, and the vent pipe opening shall be screened and terminate a minimum of(2) feet above the (100)year flood elevation or as directed by the Engineer. j) Fittings shall be: 1) Fittings for PVC pipe three (3) inches and smaller: deep bell, ductile iron, with knuckle restraint, as manufactured by Sigma, HARCO, or written approved equal. Glue joint fittings are also acceptable for PVC pipe three (3) inches and smaller. 2) Fittings for PVC pipe four(4)inches and larger:AWWA C115,ductile iron shall have a ceramic epoxy Protecto 401, Ceramapure PL90, lining, or written approved equal,with the exterior coated with coal tar epoxy or other TS021 Page3I9 April 2020 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.10 bituminous coating to resist ground corrosion, as manufactured by Sigma, HARCO,or written approved equal. k) Air Release Facilities: 1) Air release facilities shall be similar to that specified in the Brunswick County Technical Specification TS 022: Wastewater Force Mains. Air release facilities shall be located at summits of all pressure sewer systems and properly sized to prevent buildup of air or gases. 2) All air releases shall be automatic type. Manual air releases are not permitted. Comply with all NCDEQ/DWQ/NCAC rules on locations of air release valves. 3) Boxes and vaults for air release facilities,cleanouts and other appurtenances shall be sized to permit easy removal of the facilities and permit operations of the valves. "Sewer" shall be clearly marked on the box or vault cover. per county standard details. 1) Locating wire and marker balls: 1) All low-pressure sewer main piping shall have a #12 AWG, high strength copper clad steel conductor (HS-CCS) such as Copperhead Superflex, Pro Trace High Flex, or written approved equal, with HDPE insulation, and rated for direct burial. Listed and written approved underground connectors shall be used for all splices. The wire shall be brought up into a valve box at(1,000) feet maximum intervals to provide wire access points. The wire shall be taped to the top of the low-pressure sewer main at minimum ten (10)foot intervals. The contractor shall be required to perform a signal strength test of the installed tracer wire at the end of the installation with County staff present. marker balls maybe 2) In addition to the tracing wire, electronic required on the low-pressure sewer main. Refer to Brunswick County Technical Specification TS 035: Electronic Markers for Water and Sewer Pressure Mains for technical and installation requirements. m) Low pressure connection to existing county sewer system: 1) All low-pressure connections to gravity sewer systems shall be made at a manhole and enter at the existing invert to minimize turbulence of flow and the release of hydrogen sulfide gas. If the low-pressure sewer main cannot enter at the existing invert, then a restrained joint inside drop must be constructed per county standard details. 2) Where low-pressure sewer mains connect to an existing gravity sewer manhole, the manhole shall be polymer concrete or plastic polypropylene to protect against hydrogen sulfide corrosion per Brunswick County Technical Specification TS 020: Gravity Sanitary Sewer Systems—Section TS 021 Page 4 j 9 April 2020 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.10 5.0 (c) (11). If the existing manhole is concrete, either it shall be replaced by a plastic polypropylene or precast polymer concrete manhole, or a transitioning manhole made of polymer concrete or polypropylene shall be added. If a transitioning manhole is installed, the distance between the existing manhole and the transitioning manhole shall be no less than thirty- six(36)inches unless otherwise approved in writing by county staff. Where pressurized sewer mains connect to a gravity sewer manhole, the inside diameter of the manhole shall be four(4) feet minimum. 3) For new low-pressure sewer mains connecting to an existing county gravity system that requires the cut in of a new manhole: The new sewer manhole shall be plastic polypropylene or precast polymer concrete sections conforming to applicable standards outlined in Brunswick County Technical Specification 020: Gravity Sanitary Sewer System Section 5, and ASTM C478, as manufactured by Nyloplast ® ADS, Armorock,Meyer Polycrete,or written approved equal. Riser section joints shall be bell and spigot / ship-lap design seamed with butyl mastic and/or rubber gaskets (ASTM C 990) so that on assembly the manhole base, riser(s),and top sections make a continuous and uniform manhole structure. A carbon filter must be provided on any manhole that has a low-pressure sewer system connection. n) In-line cleanouts and shutoff valves: 1) In-line cleanouts and shutoff valves shall be provided on low pressure sewer main lines per county standard detail. 2) Spacing of cleanouts and shutoff valves shall not be less than six hundred (600)feet of main line in high density areas and not less than one-thousand (1,000) feet in low density areas. 3) Cleanouts shall be provided on the upstream side of all directional drills with a vertical elevation change of ten (10)feet or greater. 4) In-line isolation valves are required of both sides of all directional drills per county standard detail. 3.0 Packaged Grinder Pump Systems a) Simplex residential packaged low-pressure sewer grinder pumps shall be: 1) Barnes OGP 2 HP,or written approved equal b) Commercial and industrial duplex pump stations shall typically be permitted in the owner's name and shall be operated and maintained by the owner. The design engineer shall model the system and select a pump with the appropriate discharge head conditions to operate satisfactorily under all operating conditions. Contact TS 021 Page 5 19 April 2020 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.10 county engineering staff for assistance with system modeling information and sewer system pressure data. Per the county Grinder Pump Maintenance Program, duplex pump stations may be permitted in the county's name for operation and maintenance in limited applications. In these limited applications, the engineer shall use the Barnes OGP two (2) HP pump system, or written county approved equal, and shall verify its adequacy for the design flow and discharge head conditions. A duplex grinder pump station permitted in the county's name shall only serve one building. Any proposed pump station that requires a larger pump horsepower will not be accepted for county ownership and maintenance. c) Packaged System Requirements 1) Wetwell: Fiberglas,minimum storage of three hundred and sixty(360)gallons above the PUMP OFF level, (4) inch diameter PVC inlet flange for Schedule 40 PVC sanitary line, pump discharge brass adapter socket, easily adaptable to either (1.5) inch for residential, or (2) inch for commercial applications, PVC or HDPE pipe materials, aluminum lid, mushroom vent on tank lid, extended base, integral to the tank,for anchoring the anti-flotation concrete ballast to tank,contractor shall provide concrete ballast as required,wet well shall not be installed in the rear of the house or inside any fenced area, removal of pumps and / or operation of discharge valve shall not require personnel entry into the tank. For floodplain applications: watertight lid, solid, no mushroom vent on lid, (2) inch NPT female hub shall be provided in place of the mushroom vent for installation by the contractor for side wall venting of the tank utilizing Schedule 80 PVC vent piping. 2) Pump and motor: Vertical rotor, motor driven, solids handling type, double 0-ring seal at all casting joints, pump castings cast iron, fully epoxy coated 8-10 mils nominal dry thickness, rotor shall be stainless steel, through-hardened, polished, maximum discharge pressure shall not exceed 150 psi, minimum 1.0 HP with 2.0 HP standard. 3) Electrical: 240 VAC, 60 Hz, single phase, 3450 RPM, pump cord length (15) feet minimum,UL and CSA listed,quick connect cord for watertight attachment to pump. Note: Pumps will not operate on 208 VAC circuits and shall not be connected to 208 VAC circuits. Buildings with 208 VAC electrical systems shall require a 208/240 VAC transformer to provide the required 240 VAC. TS 021 Page 6 19 April 2020 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.10 4) Grinder: Mounted directly below the pumping elements, direct-driven, fastened to the pump motor shaft by means of a threaded connection only, cutter teeth hardened to Rockwell 50-60 for abrasion resistance, solids must be fed in an upward flow direction. 5) Integral Check Valve: Factory installed, gravity operated, flapper type integral check valve built into the stainless-steel discharge piping, must provide a full-ported passageway when open, working parts constructed of 300 series stainless steel and fabric reinforced synthetic elastomer to ensure corrosion resistance. 6) Level Controls: Starting controls to be located in the cast iron enclosure of the core unit — plastic enclosure for starting controls is not acceptable, provide float switch type level controls for PUMP OFF, PUMP ON, and HIGH LEVEL ALARM in the wet well for simplex grinder pump stations, provide float switch type level controls for PUMPS OFF,LEAD PUMP ON,LAG PUMP ON, and HIGH LEVEL ALARM for duplex grinder pump stations, pump on/ off and high level alarm functions shall not be controlled by the same switch. Float switches shall consist of a mercury tube switch sealed within a corrosion resistant polypropylene housing with a minimum (18) gauge, (2) wires, SJOW/A jacketed cable. The cable shall be of sufficient length to reach the connection junction box without splicing. The floats shall be suspended from a stainless-steel support bracket mounted inside the wet well such that any adjustment or replacement may be done without entering the tank. Float level controls shall be UL/CSA listed and approved. 7) Power and Control Cables: The power and control cables shall be a minimum of(25) feet long or as needed to connect the wet well to the pump control panel. The power and control cables shall not be spliced between the wet well and pump control panel. The cables shall be UL / CSA listed and approved. The power and control cables shall be installed in minimum (1.5) inch PVC conduit (simplex pump)and minimum(2.0)inch PVC conduit(duplex pumps).The conduit ends shall be sealed at each end with non-hardening duct sealant. At the discretion of Brunswick County Public Utilities a direct burial rated power and control cable assembly may be utilized. Any direct burial cable assembly shall be UL/CSA listed and approved. Connection of power and control cables at the wet well shall be a sealed watertight connection. Power cable shall be sealed at the motor and TS 021 Page 7 I April 2020 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.10 clamped in place with a rubber watertight seal bushing to seal the outer jacket against leakage and to provide for strain relief. Cables shall withstand a pull of 300-pound force. 8) Control Panel: Automatic control panel,NEMA 4X rated, UV resistant,UL listed for wall or pole mounting, hinged, lockable cover, high level alarm with red lexan (polycarbonate) alarm light and alarm horn, must be mounted so the alarm light is visible from the street, control panel must be within line-of-sight of the wet well, a placard shall be affixed to the control panel with the Brunswick County Public Utilities emergency phone number on the placard for the owner's use and a 2nd copy of the placard placed inside the panel. All internal wiring to be neat and color coded. A schematic wiring diagram shall be permanently affixed to the inside of the panel door. An installation and service manual for each control panel shall be provided Brunswick County Public Utilities. All conduits shall enter the bottom of the control panel and utilize a watertight hub—Myers or written approved equal. 9) Local Disconnects: Simplex Pump local disconnect: Single family residential grinder pumps are required to have the pump alarm and control circuit powered independently of the pump power circuit. Therefore,two local disconnects are required adjacent to the grinder pump control panel: Pump Alarm& Control Circuit: 120 VAC, single phase, (15) amperes, single pole disconnect Pump Power Circuit: 240 VAC,single phase, (30)amperes,double pole disconnect Disconnects shall be UL listed and rated for outdoor applications and installed per all NEC and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. The disconnects are required on the homeowner's branch circuit supplying the grinder pump panel and shall be installed before county staff will energize the grinder pump system. Duplex Pump local disconnect: 240 VAC, double pole, single phase, (60) ampere rated electrical disconnect is required adjacent to the grinder pump control panel. Disconnect to be UL listed and rated for outdoor applications and installed per all NEC and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements. TS 021 Page 8 9 April 2020 Brunswick County Engineering Department Revision 1.10 This disconnect is required on the branch circuit supplying the duplex grinder pump panel and shall be installed before county staff will energize the grinder pump system. 10) Warranty: Minimum (2) year parts and labor warranty on the complete station and accessories,including,but not limited to,the control panel,pump and motor assembly, and integral check valve.
