INTENT TO ISSUE NPDES WASTEWATER DISCHARGE
PERMIT #NC0038377
Public comment or objection to the dermit is invited.
All comments received by January 9, 2024, w be consid-
ered in the final determination regarding permit issuance
and permit provisions.
PERMIT APPLICATION
Duke Energy Progress, LLC, 526 South Church St.,
Charlotte, N.C., has applied for a Major Modification of its
NPDES wastewater permit (NC0038377) for Mayo Steam
Electric Generating Plant, 10660 Boston Rd., Roxboro,
Person County. The facility discharges industrial
wastewater, domestic wastewater, landfill leachate,
groundwater, and stormwater to Mayo Reservoir in the
Roanoke River basin. Some parameters are water quality
limited. This discharge may affect future allocations in
this portion of the Roanoke River basin. The location of
Outfall 001 is: Latitude: 36°31'28'; Longitude: 78°52'56".
The location of Outfall 002 is: Latitude: 36°32'03"; Longi-
tude: 78°53'27".Printed copies of the draft modification and
related documents may be reviewed at the department's
Raleigh Regional Office. To make an appointment to review
the documents, please call 919-791-4200.
Public comment on the draft modification should be mailed
to: Wastewater Permitting, 1617 Mail Service Center,
Raleigh, N.C., 27699-1617.
