Hi Katie and Andrew, This email is to notify you of a supplemental planting that is being implemented on the Sassarixa Swamp II Mitigation Bank Parcel during the winter of 2024. During the time of the Monitoring Year 3 Report submittal in October 2023, a supplemental planting was not deemed necessary and therefore was not mentioned in the report. This is in part due to vegetation plot data, which showed that the Parcel is on track to exceed the MY5 vegetative criteria. After further visual inspection of the Parcel within the late fall and early winter, Wildlands noticed areas that would benefit from a relatively low -density supplemental planting. These areas have become more apparent due to herbaceous vegetation dying back, allowing for clearer visual assessment. 1-gallon containerized stems will be planted at a density of approximately 150 stems per acre, across 0.68 acres. These areas include 0.44 acres along the UT1 and 0.24 acres along UT6. See the attached map. Species selected are those that were approved in the Bank Parcel Development Package expect for Tulip Poplar and Cherrybark Oak. The proposed species were selected to increase species diversity. The table below illustrates which species are being planted and their composition. Species Common Name Composition Betula nigra River Birch 20% Liriodendron tulipifera Tulip -Poplar 14% Magnolia virginiana Sweetbay Magnolia 14% Platanus occidentalis American Sycamore 13% Quercus nigra Water Oak 13% Quercus pagoda Cherrybark Oak 13% Quercus phellos Willow Oak 13% Please let me know if you have any questions or need any further information.
