SUBJECT: STIP HB-0068
Replace Bridge No. 040048 on S.R. 1527 (Helton Road)
over Helton Creek in Ashe County, NC.
Thompson Gordon Shook Engineers, Inc., d/b/a TGS Engineers, has been retained by
the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Highway Division 11 to
provide comprehensive professional engineering and environmental services for the
subject project. Included as part of these services, TGS Engineers will complete an
environmental document prepared in accordance with the National Environmental
Policy Act.
This project will replace Bridge No. 040048 on S.R. 1527 (Helton Road) over Helton
Creek in Ashe County, NC.
We would appreciate any information you might have that would be helpful in
evaluating potential environmental impacts for this project. Please respond by
January 8, 2024, so that your comments may be used in the development of this
project. Copies of the Vicinity Map (Fig. 1), Study Area Map (Fig. 2), and USGS
Topographic Map (Fig. 3) are attached for your use.
