You are receiving this letter because your residence or business has a wastewater system that discharges to
surface water. The Division of Water Resources, Asheville Regional Office, would like to schedule an inspection to
determine if your system is operating in compliance with your NCG550000 General NPDES permit. An on-site visit
to visually inspect your system is necessary to ensure system compliance. Please note, you will not need to be
present for the on-site portion and if you are present, interaction with the inspector is not necessary. The inspector
will attempt to contact you following the on-site portion of the inspection to address any additional questions.

Please be prepared to answer following questions regarding your system:

 Is access to the discharge pipe maintained? Does the system discharge regularly?
 If your system discharges, do you have annual sampling records?
 Do you annually inspect the septic tank? Has it been pumped in the past five years?
