The sediment is mostly fine materials but would probably add up to over a 5 gallon bucket. He contractor installed the permitted pipe system, and it had sediment get into it. I’m not sure when the sediment got into the pipe. It was probably cumulative over time. There are several drop inlets leading to the pipe. Since the material is so fine, it might have gone through the inlet protection. We’re working with the contractor to remove the sediment from the pipe. We’ve also diked the pipe outlet, and installed a couple checks made of coir wattles in the channel, and we’ll remove any material that accumulates in the channel. The material is very fine, with a soupy consistency, so removal will be difficult. Today, we began pumping water from the pipe into a basin to keep the fine sediments out of the stream. We hope to be able to remove what’s in the channel once the water level drops. Let me know if you have any questions.
