Construction is underway at Marine Chevrolet, and the contractor has started drainage work for the stream impact. For whatever reason, the manufacturer of the precast concrete drainage manholes left out the 12" inside drop for the last manhole. The contractor did not notice it, and I didn't catch it until last Thursday. We are planning to retrofit the inside with a stainless steel plate to act as a weir and achieve the equivalent velocity reduction we would have had otherwise with a gabion mattress. This is the easiest fix and does not conflict with our impact schedule. I just wanted to notify you as a courtesy, and I also checked with Brad and he said this is just a field change regarding engineering. I will have a notch at the bottom to allow draw down between storm events, and provide hydraulic connectivity and passage for biological purposes. I am planning on doing a 3" tall by 12" wide notch. Please see the attachments and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Jonathan L. McDaniel, PE Parker & Associates, Inc.
