SUMMA
Facility Description: Frito Lay Inc. is located at 2911 Nevada Boulevard in Charlotte, NC on 29.33 acres.The facility
manufactures and packages potato and corn chips.
File Review/History:The facility was previously inspected by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services (CMSWS)
on 2/21/2019, and the report was issued as satisfactory.
Inspection Summary: During the inspection, Frito Lay Inc.was observed to be in compliance with the City of Charlotte
Storm Water Pollution Control Ordinance. Please refer to the report for comments and recommendations.
Site Inspection Deficiency Comments

observed to be stored outdoors at the maintenance shop.
Water softening resin pellets used for equipment cleaning
were observed on the ground near the outdoor storage and
waste area. CMSWS recommends all spills are cleaned
promptly and properly to help protect water quality. Follow-up
photos to document the resin pellet cleanup were submitted
to CMSWS on 12/7/2023.

Vehicle/equipment area(s)-fueling, Satisfactory Vehicle maintenance is conducted inside the maintenance

maintenance shop. Vehicles and equipment were observed to
be stored uncovered outdoors. No stormwater pollution
issues were observed.

pretreatment maintenance shop,fueling area, and wash bay drain to an oil
water separator before discharging to the facility's onsite
wastewater treatment plant.The facility has a pretreatment
permit with Charlotte Water to discharge into the sanitary
sewer system. No stormwater pollution issues were observed
Waste storage/disposal area(s)- Recommendation One municipal waste container was observed with rain flaps
open tops,waste containers, scrap and drain plugs in place.Three open top waste containers
metal bins, etc. were observed to be kept uncovered outdoors. CMSWS
recommends all outdoor waste containers are kept covered to
help protect water quality. Reference the'Outdoor Material
Storage'section of the report for additional recommendations.
