Aqua North Carolina, Inc. (Aqua) offers the following response to the above -referenced SSO Notice of
Violation.
Aqua's Response:
On September 5, 2023, Aqua responded to the Chapel Ridge subdivision to investigate a possible
sanitary sewer leak. A leak was found near 73 Parkway Drive, Pittsboro, NC approximately 100 feet
from the road. The pipe was isolated upon discovery. The SSO was caused by a failed valve. The issue
was resolved by capping the line at this location and installing a thrust block. A third -party
environmental company remediated the spill. The root cause was poor construction by the original
contractor of the sewer system.
