Director Kari Blacknel 4929 Mebane Oaks Rd Mebane, NC 27302 NORTH CAROLINA Environmental Quality November 20, 2023 SUBJECT: Compliance Evaluation Inspection for 4929 Mebane Oaks Rd, Mebane, NC 27302 Single -Family Residence Wastewater Discharge Permit NCG551199 Alamance County Dear Ms. Blacknel: Ron Boone, of the NC Division of Water Resources (DWR) Winston-Salem Regional Office (WSRO), conducted a compliance evaluation inspection of your home's wastewater treatment and disposal system on November 16, 2023. Thank you for assisting Mr. Boone for the inspection. Mr. Boone noted that you are pumping the septic tank at least every three years and that you are using the correct type of chlorine in your system. He also noted that you have not had the treated effluent tested by a laboratory, as required in the general permit. We have included a copy of the general permit with this inspection report, which you may refer to in order to have the water tested. Having the water tested shows us the condition of your treatment system and determines how well the system is treating the wastewater before it is discharged to the receiving stream. Keeping your home's wastewater treatment and disposal system in top operating condition helps you to avoid costly repairs and improves the value of your property by maintaining a viable and operational wastewater treatment and disposal system in case you ever decide to sell your home in the future. Also, your system discharges to an unnamed tributary of Tom's Creek, which goes on to flow into Jordan Lake, which is used for drinking water for several communities and provides for the enjoyment of thousands of people who fish, swim, boat, and camp on the lake. Keeping the lake in its naturally pristine condition guarantees the future sustainability and enjoyment of the lake for generations to come.
