Spencer, PE Transportation Engineering Manager DEPARTMENT: Transportation SUBJECT: Start of Study, for pedestrian signal improvements in Greensboro, NC TIP No. HL-0048 The City of Greensboro is starting the project development, environmental, and engineering studies for pedestrian signal improvements throughout the City of Greensboro in Guilford County. T he project consists of traffic signal upgrades at thirty-one existing signalized intersections, including the installation of pedestrian signal heads with push buttons and signs, curb ramps, and crosswalks to connect existing sidewalk networks, while maintaining existing signal poles. All work is expected to be completed within existing right-of-way. The project is expected to require no tree clearing and minimal ground disturbance. The attached signal locations table, vicinity map, and environmental features maps show the project locations and up-to-date project information. Any information you might have that would be helpful in evaluating potential environmental impacts of the project would be appreciated. Greensboro staff or their consultants may be contacting you to request project-specific information. We welcome your input if you have time-sensitive concerns. Your input will be used in the development of environmental documentation prepared pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act. If applicable, please identify any permits or approvals which may be required by your organization. If possible, please submit any comments by December 3rd, 2023, so that your comments can be used in the development of project improvements.
