remediation monitoring program. These modifications were discussed
during meeting at DENR on 12/16/08, as indicated in file records.

Environmental on 6/25/09--- DMD, 6/29/09////June 22, 2009 Monitoring
Plan Modifications Proposal from Gary Ribblett of Delta Consultants
704.543.4035 for reduction of monitoring and remediation to annual
basis and other changes. Approved modifications as noted in letter of
7/14/09 to Mary Lewallen/Weyerhaeuser and cc'd to
Delta--DMD,7-13-09./////2009 GW Monitoring Report indicates free
phase fuel oil #2 was measured in nine wells/piezometers during the
4/23/09 (yes, '09) sampling event at thicknesses of 0.02 to 3.94 ft,
and that contaminants exceeding the 15A NCAC 2L groundwater standards
were detected in multiple wells/piezometers. Report provides no
discussion of the passive, continuous free product recovery which is
to be done on an ongoing basis; this task must be conducted and
discussed in subsequent reports. Next annual monitoring event is to
be in July and due not later than 9/15/10, as indicated in 6/23/10
letter to Weyerhaeuser. DMD,6/23/1 0////Assessed for free product in 16
mws, 22 piezometers, and 7 recovery wells; fp was present in some of
these at thicknesses of 0.01 to 2 ft. 15 mws were sampled and

conduct gw sampling in June 2011 and periodically conduct passive fp

Brownfields are real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence

UMTRA: Uranium Mill Tailings Sites
Uranium ore was mined by private companies for federal government use in national defense programs. When the mills
shut down, large piles of the sand -like material (mill tailings) remain after uranium has been extracted from
the ore. Levels of human exposure to radioactive materials from the piles are low; however, in some cases tailings

When Congress passed the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990, it required EPA to publish regulations and guidance
for chemical accident prevention at facilities using extremely hazardous substances. The Risk Management Program
Rule (RMP Rule) was written to implement Section 112(r) of these amendments. The rule, which built upon existing
industry codes and standards, requires companies of all sizes that use certain flammable and toxic substances
to develop a Risk Management Program, which includes a(n): Hazard assessment that details the potential effects
of an accidental release, an accident history of the last five years, and an evaluation of worst -case and alternative
accidental releases; Prevention program that includes safety precautions and maintenance, monitoring, and employee
training measures; and Emergency response program that spells out emergency health care, employee training measures

EDR MGP: EDR Proprietary Manufactured Gas Plants
The EDR Proprietary Manufactured Gas Plant Database includes records of coal gas plants (manufactured gas plants)
compiled by EDR's researchers. Manufactured gas sites were used in the United States from the 1800's to 1950's
to produce a gas that could be distributed and used as fuel. These plants used whale oil, rosin, coal, or a mixture
of coal, oil, and water that also produced a significant amount of waste. Many of the byproducts of the gas production,
such as coal tar (oily waste containing volatile and non-volatile chemicals), sludges, oils and other compounds
are potentially hazardous to human health and the environment. The byproduct from this process was frequently
disposed of directly at the plant site and can remain or spread slowly, serving as a continuous source of soil
and groundwater contamination.

EDR acquired the USGS 7.5' Digital Elevation Model in 2002 and updated it in 2006. The 7.5 minute DEM corresponds
to the USGS 1:24,000- and 1:25,000-scale topographic quadrangle maps. The DEM provides elevation data
with consistent elevation units and projection.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) leads the national
Conservation Soil Survey (NCSS) and is responsible for collecting, storing, maintaining and distributing soil
survey information for privately owned lands in the United States. A soil map in a soil survey is a representation
of soil patterns in a landscape. Soil maps for STATSGO are compiled by generalizing more detailed (SSURGO)
soil survey maps.
