Rob and Eric-

Drilling operations are underway on this project and field conditions exist such that rip rap armoring around columns at
hinge point only of top of east bank as proposed is not going to be adequate. Therefore, we feel it would be best to carry
this stone armoring down the bank and into the edge of water to repair this bank and to provide long term stability.
Additional stream impacts of 32ft are proposed (as highlighted yellow on the attached permit drawing). This project is
within the Roanoke River Basin, so buffer rules don’t apply and formal permit modifications shouldn’t be necessary. By
copy of this email, we propose to add this bank stabilization under a non-reporting NWP 13 with corresponding WQC
No. 3885. We are providing the attached drawing and picture for your records and to request your concurrence.
