BISER Secretary BRAXTON DAVIS Director NORTH CAROLINA Environmental Quality March 31, 2023 Debbie Wilson (debbie75@charter.net) David Christopher (david@masonboro.com) Masonboro Yacht Club and Marine, Inc SUBJECT: Moratorium Relief Request for CAMA Permit No. 131-83, Masonboro Yacht Club and Marina, Inc, Wilmington, North Carolina Dear Sir and Madame: This letter is in response to the above referenced CAMA permit modification request received by the DCM Morehead City office via email on March 16, 2023. To review this request, we coordinated with the NC Division of Marine Fisheries (NCDMF) and NC Wildlife Resource Commission (WRC). The requested action pertains to a four -week relief from the conditioned dredging moratorium (April 1 to September 31), to end on April 30, 2023. This moratorium was conditioned to protect juvenile shrimp and finfish populations, and to minimize adverse impacts to fisheries resources. While concerns remain about the effects of dredging on these resources, NCDMF and WRC have approved moratorium relief through April 30, 2023. The Division of Coastal Management grants this one-time moratorium relief request through April 30, 2023, with the understanding that every effort will be made to complete the authorized work within the approved relief period. If you have any questions concerning these matters, please feel free to contact me by telephone at (252) 515-5419, or by email at cameron.luck@cdenr.gov.
