Sanitary Sewer Overflows – September 2023

Dear Permittee:

In a letter dated October 10th, 2023, you were notified of a Sanitary Sewer Overflow for the period September 2023.
This overflow took place at 6909 Wexford Woods Trail, Raleigh, NC 27613. The spill was for 180 gallons which
entered surface water due to a pipe failure. In email correspondence with Joseph Pearce of AQUA North Carolina, it
was brought to our attention that the overflow happened outside of the Hawthorne collection system which is operated
by AQUA North Carolina. The overflow took place in a nearby collection system that is owned by Durham County.
Kevin Fowler of this office verified the data provided by the AQUA North Carolina in this matter.

After communicating with Mr. Pearce and reviewing submitted information, this office has determined that the subject
collection system is not in violation of their collection system permit, and the NOSD letter dated October 10th, 2023,
against Collection System Permit WQCS00380 is hereby rescinded.

We appreciate Mr. Pearce communicating with staff about this matter and have updated our files and database system
