HomeMy WebLinkAboutNC0025321_SOC - September 2023 Quarterly Report_2023091409/14/2023 Quarterly report Construcon of the plant is sll on schedule. Harper Construcon is working on several different parts of the plant. Jackson electric is on site and is in full swing on laying the new power grid for the plant. The headworks Work is on going for the new headworks area of the plant. The wet well for the primary pump staon is complete. This wet well is 24’ deep. The slab for the filtraon building was poured last week. The walls for the building will be formed next week. Aeraon basin We have emped the most northern basin and the most southern basin (basin 1&4). We began pumping basin number 1 into the adjoining basin to draw down basin 1 for the new grid that is going in. This caused an upset in the secondary clarifiers adding to the already problemac clarifiers. We reposioned the discharge line to pump everything to the head of the plant above the bar screen to catch any trash present. The grid is now being laid in basin 1. This should be completed this week and starng on the 4th basin next week. The plan is to complete basin 1&4 and fill those back up bring them online. Then Harper will draw down basin 2&3 to repeat the process. I feel like once we get a new grid in the aeraon basin, and everything brought back online we will have beter treatment in the biological process. The current design allows a lot of chances to short circuit the treatment process. Secondary clarifiers Work has been completed to raise the wall height in the secondary clarifiers as much as allowable, unl we are far enough along to be able to bypass the secondary clarifiers. The plan is to use the primary clarifiers as secondary clarifiers. There will be a bypass system put in place to pump around the secondary clarifiers. I think once we have beter air control and a deeper secondary clarifier with beter sludge removal, we will be operang much beter and be in compliance. Overall operaon The overall operaon of the plant has been normal, apart from minor disturbances caused by closing and opening basins for construcon work. The main problem we are experiencing is solids escaping the secondary clarifiers. We are running the press 24 hours a day to remove as many solids as possible from the plant. We plan to connue this unl early January when the press rehab is scheduled. This will take the press offline for an esmated me of 4 to 6 weeks.
