As previously stated, some of these areas are listed in the ten-year CIP as well as sewer lines that were smoke tested. A total of over 4,700Lf of a mixture of 4”, 6” and 8” sanitary sewer was replaced since January 2023 to mitigate I&I into the sanitary sewer for the Town of Waynesville and over 10,000Lf of sewer line was smoke tested in this same time frame. As we continue to move forward with the upgrades to the WWTP, the sewer maintenance department will continue to mitigate the I&I issue following the CIP as closely as possible to include other areas of concern as they arise. We will also continue addressing I&I into manholes as we discover those areas. In addition, the Town of Waynesville is currently working with Haywood Waterways to pinpoint fecal areas to better identify those sources of I&I. We are also smoke testing sanitary sewer lines to better identify I&I issues. Sincerely, Jeff Stines Town of Waynesville Director of Public Services
