Effluent manhole after dechlorination and flow equalization chamber.
Cause or Reason for the Upset/Spill/Bypass: Effluent pipe discharge point in stream clogged with
fallen dirt from bank of creek. Effluent blockage caused entire WWTP to backup and overflow
effluent manhole and flow equalization chamber.
Describe the Repairs Made or Actions Taken: Pump truck removed 1 load by 11 am that ended the
overflow; effluent discharge pipe uncovered with shovel. Flow equalization flow box adjusted to
allow more influent to secondary WWTP to keep chamber from overflowing.
Action Taken to Contain Spill, Clean Up and Remediate the Site if applicable): Mostly clear water
made its way to adjacent road next to WWTP and drainage ditch; no evidence of water past the road
or creek below.
Action Taken or Proposed to be Taken to Prevent Occurrences: School board reaching out to DOT
for understanding of what we can do (add stone) to discharge pipe location to keep dirt from falling
on pipe.
