Subject: Request to remove TRC monitoring from the North Cary WRF NPDES Permit
(NC0048879)
Dear Mr. Coco:
The Town of Cary respectfully requests the removal of monitoring requirements, the limit, and
associated footnotes for Total Residual Chlorine from the North Cary WRF NPDES Permit
(NC0048879). Chlorine addition is not listed in the permit as an authorized method for
disinfection of effluent discharged to the receiving stream. Instead, Cary will continue to
maintain a redundant UV disinfection system, spare parts, service support, and emergency
backup generators for our existing and approved method for effluent disinfection.
We appreciate the opportunity to address this matter. If there are any further questions, please
feel free to contact Mr. Jonathan Bulla, North Cary WRF Plant Manager at 919-677-0850
(Iona#han. bu I la7caync. qov).
Sincerely,
Jamie Revels, P.E.
