SOC Milestone
Per the Special Order by Consent as modified by a July 12, 2023 letter, the milestone titled "Complete
construction of WTP Pretreatment Improvements" was to be completed by October 29, 2023. Unfortunately, the
Contractor working on this project for the Town of Siler City has not completed this work. We had anticipated
that they would be able to make the revised deadline but as they approached the startup it became apparent that
several outstanding items would not be complete. These include materials such as sand and polymer which were
not shipped to the site in time to startup and items that the contractor had to complete before the manufacturer
can test the equipment. As of today, the Contractor is still waiting on some components to arrive at the site to
complete the work.
As it is dependent on these components, we unfortunately do not have a firm schedule for completion at this
time but are in constant contact with the Contractor and have notified them of the severity of issues associated
with not completing the work expeditiously. The Town is committed to following the requirements of the SOC
but unfortunately this work has not been completed as it should have been. We will continue to update NCDEQ
as appropriate when the work is completed or if these delays appear to be further extended.
