Section D: Summary of Finding/Comments (Attach additional sheets of narrative and checklists as necessary) On September 21, 2023, Division of Water Resources staff Gary Hudson conducted a routine compliance inspection at the Scarlet Acres WWTP. Randy Bell was present during the inspection. A review of the July 2023, and February 2023 eDMR were compared to laboratory bench sheets. No discrepancies were noted. During the inspection, the following violation and areas of concern were noted: Violations: The #2 blower has been inoperable for over six months. Also, two diffuser drop pipes were inoperable in the A train and one diffuser drop pipe was inoperable in the B train. Areas of Concern: The flow equalization basin contained excessive amounts of grease and debris and needs to be cleaned out. Also, there was debris spread across the ground from when the flow equalization basin had run over in the past. The following treatment components and documents were inspected: Permit The permit became effective on May 31, 2021, and expires on June 30, 2024. Preliminary Treatment: Preliminary treatment consists of a bar screen and a splitter box. Primary Treatment: Primary treatment consists of one large flow equalization basin. The unit was operating properly during the inspection. Secondary Treatment: Secondary treatment consists of a dual train activated sludge basin (ASB), and a secondary clarifier. Except for the three inoperable diffusers both units were operating properly during the inspection. Final Effluent: A tablet chlorinator with 3 tablet tubes is used for disinfection, and a tablet de -chlorinator with 3 tablet tubes is used for de -chlorination. The effluent flow meter was calibrated on July 29, 2023. Sludge Digestion: Sludge digestion consists of one aerobic digester.
