We have received Duke's application for renewal of NCO024406 (Belews Creek Steam Station) and accept the application as submitted timely. We will review and evaluate the application for completeness as time allows. As you indicated the existing permit is set for renewal on / or about February 28, 2024. However, the existing permit will administratively continue if NCDWR is unable to process the renewal application before 2/28/24. Thus, the facility will continue coverage under the existing permit until DWR has completed and approved the renewal application. So, there is no need for an extension at this time. Hopefully, this email shall alleviate any concerns about permit coverage and compliance with the renewal schedule. If you should have any questions and/or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me at your earliest convenience. Good morning Charles, This note is to follow up on our call this morning and to request that the Division respond to our request for alternate submittal application date as allowed in 15A NCAC 02H .0106(b). I spoke with Doug Dowden and Sergei last week about this and both indicated that an alternate date would be acceptable so I am just trying to assure that this is included in an acknowledgement from the Division. I've attached the fist page of our submittal that provides the support for the alternate submittal date. I request confirmation from the Division that the permit will be administratively extended after the expiration date as requested in our submittal.
