There have been several challenges in bringing this plant back into compliance. Now that we have the critical equipment either repaired or replaced, we have now had to overcome issues in the treatment process. To start the month the plant biology died almost overnight. We were able to get the plant biology back rather quickly, however the following explanation to the individual parameter exceedances should shed some light on the situation at Jennette's Pier. The BOD on 8/9/23, 28 ppm. This was due to over feeding MicroC to the post reactor. I adjusted the feed rate down. The BOD on 8/14/23, 16 ppm. I continued to decrease the MicroC feed rate. The BOD on 8/22/23, >60 ppm and Total Ammonia on 8/22/23, 12.6 ppm. The entire system biology appeared to die once again. I flushed out the system and started back at square one with the chemical feed rates. I was able to get in -limits on everything but Nitrates by the next round of samples. The monthly average exceedances for 8/31/23 was a result of too many high numbers throughout the month. I am still waiting for a quote and approval of a new turbidity meter capable of recording data. Once in place the turbidity frequency violations will be addressed. I will continue to work on the biological issues of the plant with system adjustments, chemical adjustments and equipment repair or replacement. We will be addressing equipment repairs on all aspects of the system as we move into fall as well as some onsite training from the manufacturer for the filtration system.
