Martin Governor John N. Morris S. Thomas Rhodes, Secretary Director December 3, 1986 Mr. Max Grimes Engineering Division US Army Corps of Engineers P. O. Box 1890 Wilmington, North Carolina 28402 Dear Mr. Grimes: As discussed by telephone on November 26, 1986 with Mr. Terry Brown and Mr. Allen Piner, the Department is requesting temporary adjust- ments to downstream flow targets from Jordan Lake during the current low flow situation. These requested interim adjustments are that target flows at the Llilington gage be reduced to 450 cfs (plus or minus 25 cfs) and that the minimum flow at the Jordan Lake dam be increased to 100 cfs (plus or minus 25 cfs). Our Division and the Division of Environmental Management believe these adjusted flows will provide adequate stream conditions during the current season. Also, as discussed, we propose that these conditions be re-evaluated at some time after the lake elevation at Jordan exceeds 210 feet MSL. It is important to note that these adjustments are only temporary in nature and further study will be required for a more permanent solution. We understand that these adjustments are satisfactory to you during this critical period. If you have any questions regarding these interim agree- ments, please let me know. Sincerely yours, John D. Wray, P. E. Deputy Director va cc: Mr. John Morris Mr. Page Benton, DEM Mr. George Everette, DEM Mr. Steve Tedder, DEM Ms. Meg her, DEM PO.
