R.78 Document T e: Fed Aid No: Funding: X State Federal Federal Permit(s): X Yes No Permit Type(s) : USACE Project Description: Replace Bridge No. 254 on SR 1512 (Woodbridge Road) over Third Creek (off -site detour planned, assume no improvements). SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW DESCRIPTION OF REVIEWACTIVITIES, RESULTS, AND CONCLUSIONS: HPOWeb reviewed on 8 June 2017 and 2 September 2022 and yielded no NR, SL, DE, SS, or LD properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE). Iredell County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicates a mostly wooded APE with several resources dating from the 2000s (viewed 8 June 2017 and 2 September 2022). A circa-1954 house stands about 480 feet south of the APE, an unexceptional example of its type. Constructed in 1962, Bridge No. 254 is not eligible for the National Register according to the NCDOT Historic Bridge Inventory as it is neither technologically nor aesthetically significant. Google Maps "Street View" confirmed the absence of critical historic architectural and landscape resources in the APE (viewed 8 June 2017 and 2 September 2022). No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined. WHY THE AVAILABLE INFORMATION PROVIDES A RELIABLE BASIS FOR REASONABLY PREDICTING THAT THEREARENO UNIDENTIFIED SIGNIFICANTHISTORICARCHITECTURAL OR LANDSCAPE RESOURCES IN THEPROJECTAREA: APE extends approximately 500 feet from either end of the existing bridge (N-S) and 150 feet to either side of the SR 1512 (Woodbridge Road) center line (E-W) to encompass anticipated construction activities. The comprehensive county architectural survey (1976-1977) and later studies, include no properties in the APE (Ruth Little -Stokes, An Inventory of Historic Architecture: Iredell County ([City of Statesville,NC]: City of Statesville, et al., 1978)). County GIS/tax materials and other visuals support the absence of significant architectural and landscape resources in the APE subject to GS 121-12(a) and Section 106 compliance. No National Register -listed properties are located within the APE. Should any aspect of the design change, please notify NCDOT Historic Architecture as additional review may be necessary.
