The Town of Belhaven had zero violations during fiscal year 2014-2015. Town Of Belhaven Collection System Permit#WQCS00175 and WQ0029889 Operator in Responsible Charge: Garland S Grant III The Town of Belhaven operates and maintains a wastewater collection system consisting of approx. 18.5 miles of gravity sewer, approx. 17 miles of force main, 12 duplex pump stations, and all associated piping, valves, and appurtenances required to make a complete and operational wastewater collection system to serve the Town of Belhaven. In addition, a low pressure system consisting of 173 semi-positive displacement simplex grinder pump stations, with on-site audible and visual high water alarms; 1 semi-positive displacement duplex grinder pump station; approx. 8300 linear feet of 2- inch pressure sewer, approx. 12,300 linear feet of 3- inch pressure sewer; approx. 10,800 linear feet of 4- inch pressure sewer, approx. 40,000 linear feet of 1.25- inch service laterals, and a 350 gpm duplex pump station. The station has on-site audible and visual high water alarms in addition to a Dorsett Technologies SCADA system connected to the town's wastewater plant. It has on-site Odor-Clean feed and on-site generator with automatic transfer switch. The station taps into an existing 6-inch force main. This system along with approx. 5,800 linear feet of parallel 6- inch force main serves 167 residences, one assisted living facility and 5 churches as part of the Pantego Township. This system is still permitted to Beaufort County but is operated and maintained by the Town of Belhaven Water Resources Department the town intends to take full ownership in the future. The Town of Belhaven has completed a by-pass force main. The by-pass line reroutes the out of town and west end flows straight to the waste treatment plant. This reduces the burden on in town lift stations and all associated operational headaches. The reduction through town also enhances cleaning and inspection of the collection system. The Historic District collection system rehabilitation has reduced inflow and infiltration. This project addressed approximately 18%of the gravity system in town. Mains were relined and laterals replaced. Manholes were either replaced or relined. The Town of Belhaven Water Resources employees welcome our citizens to tour these facilities to see firsthand the efforts being made to insure quality output and that the environmental concerns are of highest priority.
