The Glenda Drive WTP utilizes two (2) ion -exchange water softeners to reduce hardness of the potable water leaving the water treatment plant. The softeners undergo regeneration after 130,000 gallons of raw water has passed through the softener. The regeneration cycle includes four (4) steps as follows: n CYCLE STEPS Q-Flow TIME VOLUME 1 BACKWASH STEP 62 gpm 16 minute 992 gallon 2 BRINE STEP 27 gpm 45 minute 1215 gallon Mayor Everette S. (Rett) Newton Commissioner John Hagle. Commissioner Sharon Harker. The grab specimens for each step shall generally be taken at start, middle and end of the step with intervals varying from 3 to 9 minutes. The specimens taken in excess are from flow over a v-notch weir by using fixed volume container which could be a quart, %-gallon or gallon and no less than a liter. The specimens taken from each step shall be placed in container and mixed to have four homogenous specimens in four separate containers — one container for each step. A prescribed volume from each of the separate containers shall be placed in one container to create the composite sample. The proportionate volumes shown by attached worksheet will create a five (5) gallon composite sample. The total composite sample can be modified relevant to what is necessary for laboratory testing with proportion percentages remaining constant. Please call if you have any questions.
