Harris, III , P .E., Section Head PDEA-Natural Environment Section Nmih Carolina Department of Transportation 1598 Mail Service Center Raleigh , North Carolina 27699-1598 Dear Mr. Harris: I refer to your request of July 27, 2015, concerning agency acknowledgement that the stream restoration site located in an unnamed tributary to the Little Tennessee River in Franklin, Macon County , North Carolina, does not require further monitoring . I also refer to the site visit conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the North Carolina Division of Water Resources on July 7 , 2015. This site consists of approximately 190 linear feet of stream restoration and is being utilized by the North Carolina Department of Transportation to provide compensatory mitigation for impacts to waters of the U.S. associated with the R-2408A project, as authorized by Department of the Army permit number SAW 2009-00860. We concur that you have completed the requirements to monitor this site for channel stability and survival of planted species on an annual basis for three years or until success criteria were met ; therefore , no further monitoring of this site is required.
