This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in NPDES WW Permit No. NCG500652. NCG500652 I11 12I 23/09/07 117 18 i c i Section D: Summary of Finding/Comments (Attach additional sheets of narrative and checklists as necessary) As part of the inspection conducted on September 7th, 2023, a tour of the plant was conducted along with a review of the monitoring data. Butterball Turkey Feed Mill, located at 5604 Turkey Hwy, Turkey NC contracts Environmental Chemist Inc. to perform all the monthly boiler water analysis of the subsurface wastewater system including pH, Temperature, Ammonia series, metals, dissolved solids and Oil and Grease. Zee Chemical company is the company that supplies and put chemicals into the Boiler. Due to the chemicals the plant properly samples for Chemical Oxygen Demand (Cod). There is no chlorine added to the Boiler. The effluent is discharged into a rocky ditch which the water is absorbed by the soil therefore, no upstream or downstream temperature measurements are required. During the record review one sample in August 2023 had the pH of a 11. Take required action to keep your pH between 6-9 as stated in your permit section 3. However, the history of pH seemed to fall between 6-9 historically. The boiler room was clean of debris and leaks. There were no environmental concerns at the time of the inspections.
