Golden Poultry Processing Plant
Lee County
The Division received your request for a modification of the subject permit on July 7,1997. The required
modification fee was received on August 14,1997, The Division has no objections to the proposed change in
sampling location for instream samples. Accordingly, we are forwarding herewith this permit
modification.
Please find enclosed the amended limitations pages which should be inserted into your permit. The
old pages should be discarded. All other terms and conditions contained in the original permit remain
unchanged and in full effect. This permit modification is issued pursuant to the requirements of North
Carolina General Statutes 143-215.1 and the Memorandum of Agreement between North Carolina and the
U. S. Environmental Protection Agency.
If any parts, measurement frequencies or sampling requirements contained in this permit modification
are unacceptable to you, you have the right to an adjudicatory hearing upon written request within thirty
(30) days following receipt of this letter. This request must be in the form of a written petition, conforming
to Chapter 150B of the North Carolina General Statutes, and filed with the Office of Administrative
Hearings, Post Office Drawer 27447, Raleigh, North Carolina 27611-7447. Unless such demand is made,
this decision shall be final and binding.

1 Sample locations: E - Effluent, I - Influent, U - Upstream 1500 feet from the outfall, D - Downstream 1500 feet from the outfall. All stream samples shall be
grab samples. Instream sampling shall be conducted three times per week during June, July, August & September and weekly in April & October.
2 The daily average dissolved oxygen effluent concentration shall not be less than 6.6 mg/L.
3 The pH shall not be less than 6.0 standard units nor greater than 9.0 standard units.
4 Monthly precipitation totals will be recorded. The total of all daily precipitation events will be recorded to form the monthly total.
5 Chronic Toxicity (Ceriodaphnia) P/F :at 9.0%; January, April, July and October (see Part III, Condition E.).
There shall be no discharge of floating solids or visible foam in other than trace amounts.
