Tamara,
Pools are not allowed in the buffer area as it is to remain undisturbed and vegetated. Please refer to the Catawba River
Basin Buffer Rules 15A NCAC 02b .0614. They can apply for an exception, but it is not guaranteed that it will be approved
as they would have to prove that they minimized their impacts to the greatest extent possible and from the sketch you
provided, it looks like the pool would be entirely in Zone 1 of the buffer.
Please resubmit the application for the shoreline stabilization as I will not approve the pool at this time.
**If you are not doing any shoreline stabilization, and only have disturbance in the buffer area, you should be applying
for a buffer authorization not shoreline stabilization.**
