TREATMENT PLANT PERFORMANCE
During the twelve-month period from January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022, total flow for
the wastewater treatment plant was 1,303,142,000 gallons.
During the period from January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022, the City of Asheboro
experienced zero (0) overflow events at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, five (5) overflow events
from lift stations and twenty (20) overflow events from the collection system. This amounted to a
total 0 gallons from the wastewater treatment plant, 46,537 gallons from lift stations, and 67,645
gallons overflowing from manholes, which represents less than 0.009 percent of the total flow
treated for this calendar year.

address, correct, and minimize these overflow events. The Division of Water Resources in
Winston-Salem was notified of each of these overflow events.

1) The degree and extent of harm to the natural resources of the State, to the public health, or to private
property resulting from the violation;
The exact degree and extent to harm has not been determined with certainty. The SSO discharged to South Buffalo Creek,
Class WS-V* waters, which are classified for drinking, culinary, or food processing purposes where a' WS-I, II or III classification
is not feasible.
2) The duration and gravity of the violation;
Incident # 202201835 lasted 1 hour and 25 minutes, all of which went to surface waters.
3) The effect on ground or surface water quantity or quality or on air quality;
Untreated wastewater can impact the classified uses of surface water, as listed above.
4) The cost of rectifying the damage;
The cost of rectifying the damage was the amount spent by the city to fix the cause of the SSO and remediate the area.
