Badin Business Park initiated the pilot program as discussed in the August 31 Notice of Intent letter on Wednesday Sept
6, 2023. A finish date will be determined following the initial assessment of the pilot treatment efficacy.
The assessment will be addressed through monitoring of water quality within the storm sewer system both before and
after the pilot treatment area. Collection of data for the assessment will begin this week and results will be shared with
the agency at completion of the assessment or upon request.

We appreciate your correspondence of intent to commence the Activated Alumina pilot study for outfall 005. As
communicated previously, no permit modification is necessary for this short-term treatment assessment.

Please notify the Division on the start and expected or estimated finish date of the study. The DWR Mooresville Regional
Office staff, Water Quality Regional Operations, should be notified when the pilot treatment is activated. Andrew Pitner
is the Regional WQRO supervisor and can be contacted via email at [e-mail] or by telephone at 704-
235-2180.
Also, please submit the results of this treatment assessment to the Division when the study finished. If you have any
questions please contact Amir Adaryani at [e-mail] or Doug Dowden at [e-mail].
