The facility is operated under the above -referenced permit number. As per Footnote 9 to the Table contained in Part 1.A.1 of the subject permit, CPC is required to submit a plan to reduce the MTBE level within Outfall 010. MTBE was detected within this outfall in February, March, and April of 2021. The detection levels ranged from 1.0 to 1.5 ug/L, well below the current NC Surface Water Standard for MTBE of 19 ug/L. Since that time, all monthly samples from Outfall 010 have been below laboratory method detection limits for MTBE. In order to reduce the chances of detecting MTBE in this outfall again, CPC has also been cleaning the oil -water separator (OWS), which Outfall 010 discharges from, regularly. This outfall extends the OWS that services the pipeline manifold area. Due to periodic maintenance activities within that area, the OWS is susceptible to collecting solids which may be impacted by historical MTBE containing material. Removing that material will eliminate potential releases of the associated contaminants. If you require any additional information, please contact me.
