The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an inspection of the Dunescape Villas WWTF
on 8/24/2023. This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with
the conditions and limitations specified in Non -discharge Permit No. WQ0003044. The findings and
comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report
entitled "Compliance Inspection Report".
There were no significant issues or findings noted during the inspection and therefore, a response to this
inspection report is not required, however please note that this permit has expired. A renewal application
should be submitted to the Non -discharge Permitting Branch.

Inspection Summary:
A routine compliance inspection of Dunescape Villas WWTF was conducted on August 24, 2023. The purpose of the
evaluation was to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with the conditions and limitations specified in Permit
WQ0003044. Don O'Mara — ORC was present during the inspection.
The Dunescape Villas WWTF is permitted for 55,000 GPD and consists of:
• 6-mm fine screen
• 17,950 gallon flow EQ basin
• two 17,350 gallon anoxic basins
• two 17,350 gallon aerobic basins
• two 43,390 gallon sequencing batch reactors (SBR)
• 11,780 gallon post flow EQ basin
• two Hydrotech tertiary filters
• two UV disinfection units
• 11,220 gallon anaerobic digester
• effluent flow measuring device
• 11,970 gallon dosing tank
• Disposal via a high -rate infiltration system consisting of three 0.08 acre surface LPP fields.
The current facility was constructed and put into operation in July 2017 to replace the old plant.
The permit expired on March 31, 2022. A renewal application needs to be submitted.
There have been no effluent violations since the last inspection in 2021. A review of groundwater monitoring show some
erratic TDS limit exceedances in MW-6 and one isolated Nitrate exceedance in MW-5.
The facility is compliant with Non -Discharge Permit WQ0003044. Please review the comment sections of the inspection

Comment: This facility was originally permitted prior to 2T rules and setbacks. MW-4,
MW-5 and MW-6 are
located within the review boundary. The location of the MWs should be re-evaluated during
the
renewal process. The 3 high -rate infiltration fields were well maintained.
