Yes, I met Mr. Sparks and his contractor there. There is rock that is fallen into the lake. I advised that we would permit
maintenance to that. There is an area on the west side of the lot near an existing boat ramp that flattens out. There's
no evidence of rip rap there, so I told him we wouldn't permit any. I've circled that area in the screenshot below.
The full pond contour (evidenced by the green line) comes way up on the property. I told him we will not permit any
trees to be cut below the full pond, and that he should contact the state for any trees within the buffer.

I think it would be safe to say we would permit maintenance to the existing rip rap but I don't think we would permit just
rip rap in the back of cove. We may permit some bioengineering which includes plants and rock together in back of cove.
I have copied Joe Kluttz in case the property owner wants to email Joe.
FYI, we like to see at least a 2 foot erosion issue along the bank or shoreline to permit rip rap and a minimum 3 foot drop
for a hard vertical wall. Thanks Amie.

I have heard that shoreline erosion has to be to a certain degree in order for Duke to give a permit for shoreline
restoration. Can you confirm this?
I have a project that I am reviewing, 287 Leeward Point Loop Taylorsville, NC 28681 Block A, Lot 16, that looks to
previously have had riprap that is now in the lake. I want to be sure this is something you would permit before I give
them permission from our stand point. See attached photos.
