All other parameters were well below the benchmark limits, including Turbidity(12 NTU) and Settleable Solids(0.5 mI/I), leading us to believe that our TSS exceedance was not attributable to sediment deposition or churning of bottom sediments in the Stormwater Pond. We believe that the primary culprit behind this TSS exceedance is the presence of excess algae growing in the pond, despite our regular treatments, because of continuously higher than normal temperatures. Another factor that likely influenced our TSS level was that our pH treatment system was down from July 17, 2023 until August 30, 2023 when lightning hit our plant and created a surge that damaged our pH display that triggers the dosing of CO2 from our tank. We immediately pursued repair of the system but a new display unit had to be ordered and installed to correct the problem. It took several weeks to receive and install the new unit to get the system back online. The stormwater sample was taken August 10 when the unit had been down for two and a half weeks, allowing algae to grow untreated; however, our pH was measured to be 7.9 and in compliance. ACTION PLAN: Our action plan is underway to continue frequent algae treatments until the algae growth is controlled/reduced such that our TSS can be maintained below the benchmark limits. We believe that with our pH system back up and running and our pump circulating and treating pond water with CO2, we will be able to expedite lowering the TSS levels in this pond. Laboratory reports of analysis for the stormwater sample are provided in Attachment 1 and summarized in the table below.
