To whom it may concern:
In a letter dated August 18, 2020 staff at The City of Albemarle Long Creek Wastewater
Treatment Plant submitted a Corrective Action Plan as required by section A. (8) of our NPDES permit
(No. NC0024244).
Section A. (8) requires the Permittee to submit a report annually to summarize actions taken to
meet the September 2025 limitations for Cadmium, Copper and Chromium VI. Please consider this
document as such.
In The City's current NPDES permit, effective June 1, 2023 effluent limitations for Chromium
VI were removed. Chromium VI is listed as a montor and report requirement which we are performing.
The results of all analysis were reported on the perspective EDMR with the value of <.1 ug/1.
Effluent samples were collected and analyzed for Cadmium. The results of all the analyses were
<.05 ug/1 which was reported on the perspective EDMR.
As required by ourNPDES permit, samples were collected and analyzed for Copper. 50% of the
samples analyzed were under the September 2025 limit.
On June 22, 2022 The City of Albemarle submitted a revised Special Order by Consent (SOC)
application postponing the milestones (completion of construction and attain compliance with NPDES
permit limits) originally set for September 30, 2023 to September 30, 2025. NCDWR approved of the
proposed revisions. Quarterly progress reports have been submitted to NCDWR.
On April 3, 2023 City of Albemarle staffconsulted with North Carolina Rural Water Association
for technical assistance. The purpose of the assistance was to address: TSS limit violations, NH3 limit
violations, andpoormetals removal efficiency. There were no significant findings as a result of this
consultation.
