As we recently discussed, Martin Marietta (MMM) would like to request a modification to our current
individual permit AID: SAW-2016-01209. The permit was issued December 11, 2018 and will expire on
December 31, 2023. Required mitigation was paid and the work from the original permit has been
completed.
The permit was modified on January 8, 2020 to include an upgrade to an existing road crossing. The
crossing approved by the modification was never installed and mitigation credits were not purchased.

A large area of high ground is located south of the existing Quarry site, as shown on the attached maps
and in the previously submitted JD request (Dated September 24, 2021 and updated on April 8, 2022).
This high ground area is separated from the quarry site by stream and wetland systems. There is a current
road crossing to this area, but the culvert is only 10 ft wide and does not allow safe access. MMM is
proposing to install a new road crossing as shown on the attached maps and cross sections to allow safe
access to this high ground area.
In order to avoid and minimize impacts to Waters of the US, the proposed crossing has been located in an
area that impacts a straight section of stream and avoids impacts to wetlands.
In order to mitigate for 81 linear feet of impacts to Stream B, a perennial stream channel, MMM is
proposing to purchase 162 credits from Bachelor's Delight Mitigation Bank. (see attached Credit
Reservation Letter)
Please consider this letter MMM's request to modify this permit, removing the previously permitted
crossing that was not installed, and adding the new crossing as described above. MMM would also like
to request a two-year extension of this permit, modifying the expiration date from December 31, 2023 to
December 31, 2025.
