All interested parties are hereby advised that the Wilmington District, Corps of Engineers
(Corps) is announcing a Public Hearing and extension of the commenting period on the
Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) for the Figure Eight Island
Shoreline Management Project. Figure Eight Beach Homeowner's Association is
proposing to install a terminal groin structure along the southern shoulder of Rich Inlet
and to conduct supplemental beach nourishment on approximately 4,500 linear feet of
oceanfront beach and 1,400 linear feet of back barrier shoreline on Figure Eight Island, in
New Hanover County, North Carolina.
The Public Hearing will be held on September 2, 2015 at the Ogden Elementary School,
located at 3637 Middle Sound Loop Road, at 6:30pm; and this notice amends our July 9,
2015 Public Notice commenting deadline by extending the commenting period to
September 14, 2015.
