Permit: NCGNE1630 Owner-Facility:Braven Environmental LLC
Inspection Date: 08/11/2023 Inspection Type:Compliance Evaluation Reason for Visit: Routine
Inspection Summary:
The facility has numerious poly totes located outside, containing petroleum typed fluids, without secondary containment.
Two of the 250 gallon totes filled with fluid were located next to a stormdrain drop inlet. All containers located outside should
be within a secondary containment and covered if not in use
There are opened containers outside exposed to stormwater that should be covered and stored inside when not in use
There are pallets outside exposed to stormwater that should be stored out of the weather
The concrete secondary containment area has contaminated water built up inside that should be disposed of properly. Any
water pumped from the secondary containment should be tested before being released. The product buildup and the visable
sheen on the water in the secondary containment indicates the water must be disposed of off site at approved facility. Any
water with a visable sheen must be disposed of properly
There is an aboveground Oil Water Seperator(OWS)on site that was reportedly for water removal from secondary
containment. OWS can only function if water is gravity feed to it(not pumped)and the OWS has been designed to handle
the particular rate of flow that will be discharged to it. It should also only be used as a backup for unintentional discharges of
water containing heavy oils and should never be used for contaminatated water remediation disposal devise from secondary
containment
Any water with a sheen should be considered contaminated and disposed of properly
I confirmed with Waste Management(Autumn Romanski)that they did not approve this OWS for that reason
For the reasons stated , the No Exposure apllied for is Denied
