To Whom It May Concern:
I arrived at the Kinnakeet WWTP at around 8:00 am on October 1, 2002 to find a large amount
of some sort of dairy product had been dumped on the plant. The surge tank influent was almost
white with a mat of thick foam the consistency of custard.
I turned off the surge pumps dosing the plant. I then dumped the mud well back to the head of
the plant to dilute the influent. I increased the air as well as the RAS rate.
I went to the Food Lion and had a discussion with one of the managers. I was assured that no
milk or any other type of dairy had been dumped. The manager pointed out that The Meadows
Original Custard Store had recently closed. There was no one at the custard/ice cream store to
talk with. I did notice looking through the window that all of the freezers were empty with the
doors open.
I left my card and will continue to try and contact the owner so as to avoid any more dumpings.
I will continue to carefully monitor the plant to try to insure the health of the plant. I will also
continue to inform all that are involved of the situation.
