RE: Kinnakeet Shores Wastewater Plant
On August 2, 20011 arrived at the plant at 7:00 a.m. to find the dosing pumps had failed. The
plant had backed up thru all chambers. The pumps would only work if the contactors were
physically held in place. Off float had failed which was only 4 months old. Hand operated plant
and lift stations till 2:30 p.m. to get back to normal operations. Replaced float.
The plant suffered from three major problems: something entering system killed the bacteria
3 different times, all relating to wax stripping operations at the Plaza; excessive soap and
excessive grease that stayed liquefied until chlorine reacted with it. There were no floating
solids, Just discoloration visible.
