Due to comments from NCDENR Division of Water Resources (DWQ), the original aluminum arch pipe design was changed to three reinforced concrete pipes (allowing for a low flow pipe). After completing a No -Rise study for the stream crossing, the replacement pipe sizes were determined as two 60" diameter pipes and one 54" diameter pipe, as shown on the revised plans. The original crossing consisted of a single 60" diameter CMP pipe. Due to necessary road improvements and the condition of the existing pipe, replacement was needed. The amount of impact for this crossing (60') did not change. This is labeled as S1 and S4 on the PCN impact table. We have been in contact with Alan Johnson of the NCDENR Mooresville office and will be sending the revised plans to the 401 Permitting Unit in Raleigh for their records as well.
