Bonnie McKee, Paul Morrison, and Keith Jones were present during the inspection. A review of the October 2022, and April 2023 eDMR was compared to laboratory bench sheets. No discrepancies were noted. During the inspection, no violations or items of concern were noted. The following treatment components were inspected: Permit: The current permit became effective on September 1, 2017, and expired June 30, 2022. A new draft permit has been issued and is pending modifications. Odor Control: There are 3 charcoal air scrubbers located at the preliminary treatment building. Preliminary Treatment: The Muddy Creek WWTP has 3 mechanical bar screens rated at 50 MGD each, and 2 cyclone grit chambers. Primary Treatment: Primary treatment consists of 4 rectangular primary clarifiers. One of the clarifiers was out of service during the inspection. Secondary Treatment: Secondary treatment consists of 3 activated sludge basins with fine bubble diffusers, 5 blowers, and 5 secondary clarifiers. Sodium hydroxide and lime can be added for pH adjustment if needed. Final Effluent: The final effluent is treated with sodium hypochlorite and sodium bisulfite prior the being pumped to the Yadkin River via the offsite effluent pump station located at Frybridge' Sludge Digestion: The Muddy Creek WWTP has 4 floating cover anaerobic digesters. Sludge Handling and disposal: All digested sludge goes to the Archie Elledge WWTP to be dried and pelletized.
